Before the Reborn update, {{dota2|4}} ran on its own {{source|4}} engine branch, that succeeded the {{csgobranch|4}}.
The {{Dota2|4}} engine branch was the latest branch of the {{Source|4}} engine released in 2013, but was removed with the Dota 2 Reborn update, which upgraded the game to {{Source2|4}}.

The Dota 2 Dota 2 engine branch was the latest branch of the Source Source engine released in 2013, but was removed with the Dota 2 Reborn update, which upgraded the game to Source 2 Source 2.
