Directly supported games
The Source SDK supports editing for the following games directly:
- Half-Life 2
- Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
- Half-Life 2: Episode One
- Half-Life 2: Episode Two
- Counter-Strike: Source
- Day of Defeat: Source
- Team Fortress 2
- Portal
- Half-Life: Source

The following games have their own Source SDKs or Authoring Tools:
- SiN Episodes: Emergence
- Left 4 Dead
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Alien Swarm
- Portal 2
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
User-supported
- The Ship
- Garry's Mod
- Any mods developed using the Source Engine.
Unsupported games
The Source SDK does not support editing for the following games:
Half-Life and other games using its engine aka
GoldSrc (e.g.
Counter-Strike).
Half-Life: Alyx and other games using
Source 2 (e.g.
Dota 2)
Half-Life SDK 2.3 should be used for GoldSource games such as Half-Life. It includes an old version of Hammer editor, 3.4, which should be updated to 3.5 manually.
