Icons
Thank you for adding all those program icons! I was looking at that a few weeks ago after I had set up the hlmvpp icon template, and had a brief thought of "I should go through and try to find icons for some other things". Then I forgot about it and noticed you start doing it. Kudos! You've added a lot of color to the SDK Tools navbox.--TF2CutContent (talk) 19:58, 16 Nov 2023
My bad, I had forgotten to move the actual 3dsmax tools and mdldecompiler pages when I changed the names to properly capitalize them as they should have been. I've fixed the link issue now.--TF2CutContent (talk) 09:57, 17 November 2023 (PST)
FireAlpaca
This Wikipedia does not contain random tools from third-party developers, to be honest, even the content of GIMP and Photoshop here are questionable, but their presence can be justified, since there are plugins associated with them (Source/Goldsrc engines). What about FireAlpaca? With such success, we can make an article for Windows Paint, because in it you can also edit images and save them in the BMP. --NOUG4AT (talk) 18:05, 16 Dec 2023 (UTC)
Yes yes you are right I am not going to argue with that but then stuff like wings3d why does it have a page. When it doesn't have an exporter for smds or why is there a page for s.t.a.l.k.e.r. SOC like yeah its page hasn't been touched in more than a decade but still anyway you are the more seasoned veteran and Iam just a rookie. --Toligon (talk) 19:20, 16 Dec 2023
you know, I'm not an expert or anything like that, and I could be wrong, so your opinion is also important, answer if you have a position on all this, we will find a common denominator. and yes, thank you for the edits. --NOUG4AT (talk) 19:22, 16 Dec 2023
I also try to follow some canons, at least some users deleted non-valve stuff. in fact, there is anarchy going on in this Wiki, you can say that I am imposing my position on these pages, but still I believe that everything should be limited to a connection (at least indirectly) with valve.
it is necessary to develop new rules and, if necessary, remove old things that are superfluous. You give examples of some tools, but their content is indeed unclear. but you know, even the Valve admins of this Wiki did not delete Stuff not related to Valve. --NOUG4AT (talk) 19:30, 16 Dec 2023
A bit of a problem with images
Hey, quick note about the images showcasing the different anti-aliasing settings, I think there's a bit of a problem with them. While the trees and grated textures seem like the perfect way to showcase it in theory, I don't think the anti-aliasing actually affects them at all. I'm not 100% sure, but from my knowledge in Source textures aren't affected at all by AA. Comparing 8x MSAA and No AA, which should have the most extreme differences, you can see that the only part of the grating which changes are edges of the brush, the tree also has the same problem since the leaves are just a bunch of overlaid transparent branch images. Though the grating prop does change quite a lot, and I'm not sure why that happens, since I think it's also texture (keyword, think). So yeah, great work with the page, just wanted to note a small problem with the images. --Wisdurm (talk) 14:20, 10 Jan 2024
I wanted to say the same about the images, but before that I watched a video where people compare anti-aliasing and for some reason sometimes the difference was minimal (if there was any at all), it can be said that it is not always possible to demonstrate the difference...--NOUG4AT (talk) 14:28, 26 Jan 2024
Yeah I noticed that too really the only big difference is the rope and that grate prop.(well atleast for msaa) Honestly the best way to show anti-aliasing is to show it while the player is moving backwards and forwards. I might make a GIF for it or something.--Toligon (talk) 14:20, 10 Jan 2024
I don't think that GIF will provide us with a better opportunity, we still mean image compression, which will lead to losses.--NOUG4AT (talk) 14:28, 26 Jan 2024
Oh I already gave up on it as well yeah the GIFs compression would completely destroy anti aliasing. --Toligon (talk) 14:26, 26 Jan 2024
Hey man, I'm asking all active editors of the VDC to respond to the survey on my user page on whether or not Mapbase is an engine branch or not. I would like it if you submitted a response! --Equalizer5118 (talk) 17:06, 12 Jan 2024
Opinion.
Hey. I want to say you one thing, if you create articles in the future, do not hesitate to attach citations. Especially in some statements. This is quite a useful thing for a wiki. I'm currently really enjoying your article on Slammin' Source Map Tools. Great job, this is how articles should be. Accurate. IMHO! --NOUG4AT (talk) 14:09, 26 Jan 2024
Vance
Hey! You need to know. I specifically deleted the Vance template that was there before, this is a project that was deleted, and to be honest, its contents here are questionable.--NOUG4AT (talk) 17:50, 26 Feb 2024
All right I am honestly not really familiar with what, vance was really supposed to be as I was just more interested in its code, but what do you mean questionable? --Toligon (talk) 20:58, 26 Feb 2024 (UTC)
I wasn't sure about its content here since it was removed, but in fact the contain may well be justified, this mod was popular at one time. --NOUG4AT (talk) 5:05, 27 Feb 2024
Don't do it
Its incorrect. Your line {{this is a|name=light_deferred|e0|game=asd}}{{also|{{lw}}}}.
You should write it in this format, if this entity exists in various games -> game=asd|game1=lw => {{this is a|name=light_deferred|e0|game=asd|game1=lw}} --NOUG4AT (talk) 7:01, 8 Apr 2024
