Removing {{message}}

Should I continue to have my bot replace instances of {{message}}? I did so because of the message given on Valve Developer Community:Message transclusions. It's accurate most of the time, though it makes a few errors. If it's doing more harm than good, I should be able to revert its actions. ―Pee (talk) 20:13, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

You can continue. I've somewhat given up on trying to fix it. PabloS (talk) 20:23, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

Mistake deletion

Seems that CrematorBot mistakenly deleted Team Fortress 2/Scripting/Script Functions and seems like only administators have the ability to undelete pages Nescius (talk) 12:38, 18 June 2024 (PDT)

It deleted everything in that category, but I didn't particularly vet what was in it; feel free to ping me with any more pages that need undeletion. PabloS (talk) 12:40, 18 June 2024 (PDT)
Team Fortress 2 Level Creation also mistakenly deleted. I wonder would it be possible for moderators to get the undelete pages privilege ? Considering we can delete them undelete would be good to have Nescius (talk) 18:04, 22 June 2024 (PDT)

Removal of my mod submission

Heya, at this point I don't see any point running anymore. If I was accepted I would be a mod in a wiki full of people who despise me for being an editor who followed standards set by others. I'd like my request to be removed, as there's just no point. I don't really see a point of me even being an editor anymore if every action I take will be likely attacked if it so much as brushes any topic that these users hate. Unless I fit the exact mold that they want, there's not even a chance in hell I'd be welcomed here. -Equalizer (talk) 16:31, 18 June 2024 (PDT)

Protection levels

Hi! While getting acquainted with the moderation tools, I noticed that the protection levels that moderators can set are rather limited (I only see 2 levels). Is there an ability to have a protection level that, when set, only allows moderators and administrators to edit a page? I think moderators should have their user's page protected to prevent vandalism in case of retaliation from other users and also be able to protect any pages that need temporary protecting in case of large amounts of vandalism, which would give us the opportunity and time to clean things up. Let me know what you think and what solutions can be implemented.

Also, it may or may not be a local issue, but the preview button is not working for me, on every page, and returns the following error:

An error occurred while attempting to preview your changes. API error: unknown_useskin

Attempted on 2 different browsers and 2 different computers. Peter Brev (talk) 09:14, 19 June 2024 (PDT)

I'm not able to do some technical stuff due to not presently having access to the wiki server right now, so I can't fix protection level issues. As for the preview button, it seems to be working on my end. PabloS (talk) 11:44, 19 June 2024 (PDT)

Sidebar translation

I was wondering if you could change the Croatian parts on the Workshop section, since "Alati za radionicu (game)" isn't ideal, but changing into this is better "Alati za (game)".

Done. Thanks. PabloS (talk) 11:45, 19 June 2024 (PDT)

Some of the strings at Valve Developer Community:Translators' noticeboard could also probably be added, even if they weren't completely finished.

Rollback button

As moderator I now see a rollback button. Not completely sure how is it different from undo but it has no confirmation when clicking on it. I somehow accidentally clicked it on two occasions as I am scrolling on phone. If possible confirmation should be added to that Nescius (talk) 16:02, 22 June 2024 (PDT)

Rollback allows to undo multiple edits at once and restores the page to the last edit of your choice. The undo button will only take care of the last edit.Peter Brev (talk) 14:30, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
The rollback button's purpose is to not have a confirmation; it's meant to revert multiple edits by the same person at once. PabloS (talk) 16:18, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
Not having confirmation makes it very easy to missclick on phone and instantly revert stuff when scrolling through recent changes. Doesn't make much sense to me why there isn't simple "yes/no" for that and how it would affect its purpose to revert multiple edits. Nescius (talk) 16:30, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Rollback. PabloS (talk) 16:33, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
Based on what I found in the article I should be able to do something like this Special:MyPage/common.css if I understand correctly and put css in there that hides the rollback link for me. Is it something that's possible here or am I misunderstanding it completely ? Nescius (talk) 17:00, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
That should work. PabloS (talk) 17:14, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
I tried this and User:Nescius/common.css doesn't seem like it works. Tried reloading and clearing the cache. I assume this option is false on this wiki ? Nescius (talk) 17:21, 23 June 2024 (PDT)
It seems so; I unfortunately cannot fix that. PabloS (talk) 17:39, 23 June 2024 (PDT)

Problems with images in categories

Here are the problems you may encounter:

  1. Blurry small images due to bilinear resampling by default (see example);
  2. Lots of light colored images (icons and other) that are not visible on a white background (see example).

Solution:

  1. It's worth trying image-rendering:pixelated in MediaWiki:Common.css;
  2. Just change the background color of the images to something slightly lighter or darker than the page background.

Code Example:

.mw-category-media .gallerybox .thumb { background-color: rgb(43 43 43); border-color: rgb(70 70 70); image-rendering: pixelated }
