XenEngine -> BMS

Hey. You recently created an article about XenEngine, you considered it appropriate to highlight this in a separate article? given that this engine is exclusively used only in one game and we do not have any special documentation on it. Is there a need to do this separately from the same BMS article. In which all this would look more appropriate. --NOUG4AT (talk) 18:41, 30 Jan 2024

Sorry, my bad. Am I not allowed to do that? I just felt like it having it's own page would be neat, since there's barely any mention of it. Black Mesa uses said engine so I linked the single 2 words that said the name in the article to the XenEngine one. --EvilEMG (talk) 23:21, 30 Jan 2024

This branch is actually used by only one game... And having a section about Xen Engine on the BMS page would be more appropriate, and it would also be more appropriate to have a separate article about Xen Engin if at least several games functioned on it... It’s one thing when we have a CSGO branch, quite a few projects are built on it, but here is a branch that is used by literally one game... --NOUG4AT (talk) 4:49, 31 Jan 2024

Yeah, I'm aware of it being used by only one game, I even mentioned it in article itself. I figured why not have one? --EvilEMG (talk) 8:48, 31 Jan 2024

This is some kind of unprofessionalism. It is useful to have information about this; no one is saying that what you created is bad. The fact is that this is too MUCH for a separate article, because we don’t know much about this branch, besides, then let’s create an article conditionally for the Nightfire branch of Goldsrc, in fact, it is also a modified branch, but it is used by one game.
I see that you recently started creating articles, so this is how Wikipedia usually justifies the creation of something “why not?”, sorry, I couldn’t resist. --NOUG4AT (talk) 8:01, 31 Jan 2024

I'm not professional at all, I made half the article on school. And even though the information isn't really "out there", there IS documentation, the blog I linked in the page is where I got most of the info from + bits from the Black Mesa article. And sure, now that you mention it, I would have created one for the Nightfire branch. I don't see any issue with that, although we've got MUCH less information compared to the XenEngine. If a modified branch was merely one or two improvements, then I'd understand your point. --EvilEMG (talk) 10:16, 31 Jan 2024

what you are doing is excessive fragmentation of content, you yourself have now admitted that you are not particularly experienced, so maybe those who have made a lot of edits will teach? Don’t think, it’s just that when a branch is used exclusively in one game (and there are no prerequisites that it will be used anywhere else), there is no point in discussing this separately, I’m merging it and telling you about it. so that later there will be no questions regarding this. --NOUG4AT (talk) 9:47, 31 Jan 2024

Shame. Well, atleast by merging it the work doesn't go to waste and it still looks good. Appreciate it! :) --EvilEMG (talk) 10:57, 31 Jan 2024

Okay, I thought... I was probably too cruel. Sorry man, I’d better take back my words about my experience...
Do as you see fit, my goal is only to improve/optimize.
Indeed, I found for myself an objectively correct argument in favor of merging - that at least this engine is used only in this project... However, your position also has the right to life, in the sense that yes, creating this separately may still be useful.
However, I think that in order for us to put an end to this, it is necessary to at least do a survey, to be honest, I will think and think for now. But your position is clear to me, I will undo my edits for the purpose of “merging”, most likely what we have now is good. And it looks beautiful. Just need to think...
At the very least, it’s wrong for me to redo everything because of my opinion (trying to be objective); everyone’s opinions should be taken into account. Let everyone decide and your position should be taken into acc.
Also in the future, if you create templates (icons), try to use an abbreviation. For example we have template:cs, no template:counter-strike
Also, {{langsp}} ({{language subpage}}) is used for subpages (for example, the main page is CS), the subpage will be CS/en or any other language, for example Russian: CS/ru. The main page should contain a {{multipage}}.
Okay, that's my crooked explanation. Your initiative is necessary, what you do is useful. Btw there is really little information about Nightfire, but if you are one of those who will ever organize all this (a page about branch), or its analysis. This will be very cool! Good luck to you, and in the future edits. --NOUG4AT (talk) 11:10, 31 Jan 2024

Hey, don't worry about it! Whether you decide to merge it or not, I'm fine with either option. Thanks for the info too, I'll keep it in mind. I'm into some pretty absurd things (like featureless, unnamed protagonists or hardly mentioned stuff) but I'll do my best to try to do my part and be helpful, somewhat. Thanks again and good luck to you aswell! :) --EvilEMG (talk) 12:45, 31 Jan 2024

Strange edits.

You create pages about a developers/dev. teams in a category. This is probably not the best solution, consider creating separate pages, examples Company reference page reference of Category page --NOUG4AT (talk) 11:09, 15 Feb 2024

Hey! Yeah, my fault. Didn't know the template from reference of Category page was a thing. Should I use it as a reference for the ones I edited? --EvilEMG (talk) 11:15, 15 Feb 2024

It is not necessary; but preferable, as it simplifies the search for projects within a specific organization (for example, mods/tools/games).
And the only thing that would be worth correcting is the information about the developer. It is better to place this on a separate page rather than in a category. If the creator, in addition to games, also creates mods, it is quite cumbersome to talk about the developer in full in each category. It does not really make sense. Instead, it's better to have a link to the main page where information about the developer is posted. --NOUG4AT (talk) 11:24, 15 Feb 2024

Understood. I requested the merging of Breadman games and Breadman mods today, actually. Well then, I'll look into it and fix it :) --EvilEMG (talk) 11:44, 15 Feb 2024

You can look. I redid it. --NOUG4AT (talk) 11:59, 15 Feb 2024

GoldSrc Branches

Thank you for creating Cry of Fear engine branch Cry of Fear engine branch; great job! I tried to improve your article, and I hope this doesn’t seem biased. Please feel free to correct anything if I made a mistake. Thank you, in general, for your activities. Do not hesitate to create pages about such branches, even if there isn't much information available. I will try to help by delving into the code of such branches (if it is available in public acess) and try to supplement your articles. In any case, "completing this GoldSrc Branches campaign" is a very cool achievement. We capture what other wikis do not. --NOUG4AT (talk) 10:18, 5 Mar 2024

(using Template:Message) Appreciate it! It isn't biased at all, you made it look much better. Genuinely thankful for the help! :) Glad my odd fixations are getting somewhere hahah --EvilEMG (talk) 11:45, 5 Mar 2024 (UTC)

One tip

Hey EvilEMG! On the future, when you create a multipage on a page, it is better to move the current page without a multipage than to copy and paste it to a new one. This way the history of edits is also saved (on /en), which is useful. --NOUG4AT (talk) 17:00, 5 Mar 2024

Oh hah. So I create the page without the multipage then I add it afterwards? ^^,, --EvilEMG (talk) 18:15, 5 Mar 2024

Yes. What I mean is that instead of copying the current page, you can move it to a subpage, for example /en. I have done the same thing as you, and many people do it. I just recently realized that it is actually more correct to move it. By doing so, you also move the history of page edits, which allows you to see how it was created. --NOUG4AT (talk) 17:28, 5 Mar 2024

Okay, understood. I'll do so next time. --EvilEMG (talk) 18:36 5 Mar 2024

Just words

Hey man, thank you just for these edits and new articles. You're doing great. --NOUG4AT (talk) 19:40, 5 Mar 2024

It's nothing! Just trying to do my part. Thank YOU for your help too!! :) --EvilEMG (talk) 20:55, 5 Mar 2024

Also from these mods: Nightmare House 2 Nightmare House 2, The Citizen The Citizen, Underhell Underhell
Also creating articles about characters in multiplayer games (for example, Contagion or Brainbread 2; for example, general articles about them and sections about each of them). --NOUG4AT (talk) 6:42, 9 Mar 2024

{{Half life games}}

(using Template:Message) Please do not add the hlseries template if the game is not related to the Half-Life universe. --NOUG4AT (talk) 16:19, 20 Mar 2024 (UTC)

(using Template:Message) But it is. Although Titan: XCIX doesn't directly reference HL, Atrophy: XCIX (which is a prequel) does! They're both in an alternate Half-Life universe, so by extension they're related. To be fair, Atrophy was done a whole 9 years after Titan... so this was possibly retcon. --EvilEMG (talk) 19:35, 20 Mar 2024 (UTC)

ok, I’m basing this on what’s written in the template itself, and it contains mostly third party remakes, co-op games, etc... then undo my changes ‘maybe wrong I with it… cause I’m not familiar with it well’ --NOUG4AT (talk) 18:58, 20 Mar 2024

(using Template:Message) Just an overlook then, happens to anyone. :D --EvilEMG (talk) 19:35, 20 Mar 2024 (UTC)

thx for understanding and sorry for bothering, all the amazing ! --NOUG4AT (talk) 19:56, 20 Mar 2024
