Ability to use API

(using Template:Message) How long did it take for your bot to become able to use the API? Autoconfirm on Wikipedia takes 4 days but you seemed to be able to use the API sooner than that. --PeeBot (talk) 23:00, 4 Jan 2024 (UTC)

(using Template:Message) I'm not entirely sure how it all works, but you should be able to do most basic API actions immediately, that's at least my experience. The VDC is obviously quite different from Wikipedia in a lot ways. From my knowledge being added to the Autoconfirmed users group takes 5 days, I think (and hope since WisdomBot isn't in it yet), based on this. This however does not limit usage of the API much. I'm using the DotNetWikiBot Framework, and the only problems I've ran into is not being able to create pages (since there's a check as to whether you're a bot, which the API can't do) and not being able to move pages, both of which are due to not being autoconfirmed. --Wisdurm (talk) 0:23, 5 Jan 2024 (UTC)
