New page for "Subrect Editor"

(using Template:Message)  Hi! I made a new page for the Image Subrect Editor. I have no idea how to create a template for the icon and ez click link thingy. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Image_Subrect_Editor If you could help out, as I think you're the one doing this, that'd be cool. Thanks!  --SethTooQuick (talk) 4:23, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  I can do that but I would have to install some Source 2 games manually, by pirating games (HL Alyx) or using third-party sites (I picked the one that i trust the most) to get CS2 for free, then I can extract the SDK icons (such as Image Subrect Editor) from one of those games. That icon template isn't that hard to make.  --Kr0tchet (talk) 11:33, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  I can upload the icon. I'll just follow the other icons naming conventions.  --SethTooQuick (talk) 11:40, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Hi! I've added the icon. I couldn't find what the others were named, but the name is image_subrect_editor_icon.png  --SethTooQuick (talk) 11:45, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Usually you can name it whatever you want, but I recommend you to use something like "Icon-S2ParticleEditor.png" or "Icon-(Tool name).png" for example.
For the company logos, software logos, etc..., use "Logo-(Name).png".  --Kr0tchet (talk) 11:47, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Done. new name is Icon-image_subrect_editor.png  --SethTooQuick (talk) 11:48, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Oh, I added underscores. I can move it again lol  --SethTooQuick (talk) 11:49, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Another thing, if you go to 🖿common\Counter Strike 2\core\tools\images\ for example, there is tons of higher-res version of the tools icon, such as Image subrect in 32x32 or higher. These benefits high-DPI displays such as 4K or Retina one, but to use it on VDC, you just need third-party programs or website to convert it to PNG (which you already know), instead of uploading 16x16 version, upload the 32x32 (or higher) version of the icons (if the game/tools/software have it), and using one parameters (like {{{ico size = 16px}}}) for the icon template to scaling it down back to 16px (but will scaled back to 32x32 or more if you zoom your browser in or by using high-res displays). Right now I'm currently converting the ico to 32x32 size (and optionally upscale it if needed to), then overwrite the 16x16 one.  --Kr0tchet (talk) 12:01, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  That's where I got that 16x16 icon from, it's the only one there. I'll upscale it and reupload.  --SethTooQuick (talk) 12:04, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Ah nvm, you got it. But yeah, that was the only scale of that icon.  --SethTooQuick (talk) 12:06, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Template has been created now. See {{ImgSubrect}}. Note that the newly uploaded icon may ended up look blurry (with 32px size) because the cache wasn't fully cleared on your browser, just use Ctrl + F5 to clear all caches while reloading the page.  --Kr0tchet (talk) 12:10, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Awesome, thank you! I just had 0 idea how any of that template stuff works.  --SethTooQuick (talk) 12:12, 21 Aug 2023 (UTC)

redoing hotspot page

(using Template:Message)  Hi again! So, I was wondering if remaking the hotspot page should be done? As I've made the Image Subrect Editor page, the old docs need to be cleaned up. Do you think it's wise to turn that page into "Hotspots" and orgainzie the info like the new subrect page?  --SethTooQuick (talk) 10:20, 23 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  Well... I don't know. Maybe ask somebody else for that.  --Kr0tchet (talk) 14:59, 23 Aug 2023 (UTC)

Fixed L4D page

(using Template:Message)  Hey man, fixed the L4D page. Turns out I must have accidentally added an extra }} somewhere in the Mod Status part of the template, or broke it in one way or another. Fixed by removing Mod Status.

I need to stop editing templates on mobile...  --Equalizer5118 (talk) 21:38, 30 Aug 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  gee thanks. Looks good now.  --Kr0tchet (talk) 3:32, 31 Aug 2023 (UTC)

I updated the "Compiling under VS2022" page.

(using Template:Message)  I linked a troubleshooting guide to fix the VPC regkeys stuff and put the note into the correct format.
