Is it possible to make my own server software that works with Steam games (eg. Stormworks: Build and Rescue)?

(using Template:Message)  I would like to know if I can write my own server software from scratch for a Steam game instead of using the dedicated server software that Steam supplies. I would like to write it in Java and for the game Stormworks. Does anyone know if it is even possible to make software like this that could communicate with the client?  --Tennessine (talk) 7:42, 10 Jun 2023 (UTC)
