{{Warning|

Recently there have been '''phishing attempts''' in the form of live streams or tweets (X/Twitter posts) linking to a website impersonating Valve's official page https://counter-strike.net/cs2/ and claiming to offer free CS2 beta testing, abusing the hype. Read URLs carefully, make sure it is secure (HTTPS), check for fake windows asking you to login to your Steam account, do not log in any website with your Steam account carelessly and report the source or contributor if possible.

To get access, users need the CS:GO Prime Status as well as an active Competitive Skill Group and should simply play official matchmaking games and wait. Valve will eventually grant access to Counter-Strike 2 through CS:GO's main menu and not through some website!

}}

== Restricted playtest ==
Previously, Valve only accepts players based off their recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing.

As of September, this was expanded to all players, as long they have CS:GO Prime Status, an active Competitive Skill Group, and play the majority of their official matchmaking games in one of the regions where the Limited Test is available.

The available maps and game modes have changed over the past months. All of these can or could be played online as well as offline with bots. Maps that are no longer available may still be in the game files and can be played offline. Future versions of limited test releases will offer other game modes, maps, and features.
