Counter-Strike (or CS) is the world's number 1 online action game. Engage in an incredibly realistic brand of terrorist warfare in this wildly-popular team-based game. Ally with teammates to complete strategic missions. Take out enemy sites. Rescue hostages. Your role affects your team's success. Your team's success affects your role.

Counter-Strike was first released as a Half-Life mod (under the name Half-Life: Counter-Strike) on June 19th, 1999. The Counter-Strike Mod was developed by Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe. On April 12th, 2000, Valve announced that the Counter-Strike developers and Valve had teamed up. Since then, Counter-Strike has been available to buy.

Client-side fps_max isn't limited to 72 like Quake. The server-side tickrate...^[Clarify]

Counter-Strike had built-in voice communication since 1.3.

Limitations/Bugs

Warning:the Valve don't update the game as often as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. So players can only wait.

Workaround: ReGameDLL_CS may solve some problems but introduce others. Some players can solve some problems on their own this way.

Bug:Cycler entities disappear at the start of a new round. Use env_sprite instead, which can be used for MDL or BSP models, despite the name.  [todo tested in ?]

Versions

The final major version of Counter-Strike is 1.6, released on September 15, 2003, few days after Steam launched.

Counter-Strike maps use the following prefixes: de_ for Bomb Defusal, as_ for Assassination, and cs_ for Hostage Rescue.

Warning:there are no bots in the game, unlike Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Ultimate Warcraft 3 Next Generation (UWC3NG) is a raceless version of the Warcraft3:FT plugin you may be familiar with.

UWC3NG provides players with 50 playable levels and a freeform skills system which allows you to mix and match skills of your choosing. In addition UWC3NG offers players a choice of 10 ultimate skills and you can train up to 3 different ultimates, as well as other special abilities. UWC3NG also offers an optional Enhancement system to provide your character with even more customization.

UWC3NG is based on the new WC3:FT r11 plugin. It's also completely new rewritten!

Warcraft 3 XP by ferret (Spacedude/Dopefish)

This version is based on the same code base as the 2.22 series, the only difference is that it is coded specially for AMX Mod X.

The older 2.22 series will work with AMX Mod, but the 2.6.x and future versions only work with AMX Mod X.

Trivia

• The pirated copies of 1.6 in Russia, most of Asia and several other countries had a menu theme that is not in the Steam version. The most frequently used track was the main theme made from Condition Zero Deleted Scenes by Zak Belica, as well as cut-down version which was also played on the Xbox version of Counter-Strike^[1].

Tip:This behavior can be replicated by placing an MP3 file named gamestartup.mp3 in the cstrike/media/ folder.
