| Hi! I made a new page for the Image Subrect Editor. I have no idea how to create a template for the icon and ez click link thingy. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Image_Subrect_Editor If you could help out, as I think you're the one doing this, that'd be cool. Thanks!

| I can do that but I would have to install some Source 2 games manually, by pirating games (HL Alyx) or using third-party sites (I picked the one that i trust the most) to get CS2 for free, then I can extract the SDK icons (such as Image Subrect Editor) from one of those games. That icon template isn't that hard to make.

| Another thing, if you go to {{Path|common\Counter Strike 2\core\tools\images\}} for example, there is tons of higher-res version of the tools icon, such as Image subrect in 32x32 or higher. These benefits high-DPI displays such as 4K or Retina one, but to use it on VDC, you just need third-party programs or website to convert it to PNG (which you already know), instead of uploading 16x16 version, upload the 32x32 (or higher) version of the icons (if the game/tools/software have it), and using one parameters (like {{param|ico size {{=}} 16px}}) for the [[Template:Software|icon template]] to scaling it down back to 16px (but will scaled back to 32x32 or more if you zoom your browser in or by using high-res displays). Right now I'm currently converting the ico to 32x32 size (and optionally upscale it if needed to), then overwrite the 16x16 one.

| 1 = For now, Mapbase is the forked version of Src13 SP with some differences that was enough to making most or nearly all mods incompatible with vanilla/unmodified Source 2013 SP. So for now it's probably gonna stay as the engine branch.

Can i get the source file for the Valve Engines diagram?

There are some branches that aren't on that diagram (These ones), can I get the source file for that image? Or if it isnt possible, can you add these branches to the image? -Mr. System Error(T - C) 14:03, 18 January 2025 (PST)

Too many to fit into one image and also games (even if it's introducing new engine features), shouldn't be added here unless they are incompatible with each other or made major modifications (there may be some exceptions through like Svengine, which are made for one game but have major modifications that made it incompatible with GoldSrc).
For example, HL2: Update shouldn't be listed here since it's just older version of Source 2013 SP, and same for PUNT, Tactical Intervention and The Stanley Parable, which made minor modifications to Portal 2 engine. About GoldSrc aswell, console ports shouldn't be marked as branches, and Spirit of Half-Life is basically Mapbase but for GoldSrc. --leonidakarlach (talk) 21:02, 18 January 2025 (PST)
Maybe you can put some of them into little notes that you have on the image? For example: "-PUNT and The Stanley Parable use modified versions of Portal 2 branch, Punt added *add most important features*, and TSP added *also most important features*" or something like that. But they do little modifications to the branches, as you said, so maybe not put them, or put them, i dont know, its your choice and image after all, im not trying to force things, just giving suggestions that could improve things -Mr. System Error(T - C) 01:19, 19 January 2025 (PST)
I'm gonna keep the image as-is for now, through. --leonidakarlach (talk) 01:34, 19 January 2025 (PST)

Engine build version / protocol

Hi. I noticed you added some information like this to the engine branch pages:

The engine versions for this branch are build 2547 (Lost Coast) or 2761 (EP1) up to 4044 (Protocol 7).

I wonder how can I get that kind of information? I'm trying to guess what branch a given game belongs to based on it's files. Could you share anything about that? Also, can I reach you on discord? Unsigned comment added by XBLAH (talkcontribs) Always sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)
