Pre-Fortress 2 is a free mod that aims for a new take on the gameplay of
Team Fortress Classic and
Quake Team Fortress while combining it with the aesthetics of
Team Fortress 2's original trailers and concept art.
Originally strictly a 1:1 remake of Team Fortress 2's beta, it has since been redesigned in terms of balance and mechanics, including older Team Fortress mechanics like armor, and newer TF2 mechanics like hauling and gamemodes.
Overview
- Armor and grenades for all classes. Unlike
TFC, grenades have lengthy animations and can't be thrown while firing weapons.
- Character models, materials, shaders, and maps have been changed to reflect early footage and artwork.
- Many other mechanics from
TFC, like tranquilizer darts, destruction PDA damage, and infection.
- Older layouts for maps including 2Fort, Dustbowl, Badlands (Capture The Flag), etc.

Clarify: This does not mean this game uses
Mapbase or
Strata Source!
