The game runs on a heavily modified version of GoldSrc and offers better graphics, new effects (FX), and more, making the graphics closer to Source engine, it also used detailed textures which was first introduced in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. Despite this, it's was still based off pre-SteamPipe version of the GoldSrc engine, using
Paranoia SDKs.[1]
