Founded in 1995, Akella used to be the major game developer and publisher (which unofficially earned the name "EA of Russia"), until Postal III came out which was developed by their subsidiaries, Trashmasters and published by Akella.
This, and, along with the effect of Great Recession happened in Russia, and many other bad decisions made in the company, caused the company to went bankrupt and it's team getting laid off.
The company is also known for publishing Left 4 Dead and
Left 4 Dead 2 in Russia. Popular games from US and other countries published by Akella for Russian market including: Assassin's Creed series, Left 4 Dead series, Postal series, Resident Evil series and much more.
