Emergency bot shutoff

Icon-crystalclear-action-configure.png
This user account is a bot account that uses DotNetWikiBot DotNetWikiBot, operated by Wisdurm (talk).
It is a legitimate alternative account used to make repetitive automated or semi-automated edits that would be extremely tedious to do manually.
Under construction.png
This bot is due to have all of it's code rewritten from scratch
Due to this bot recently seemingly having regained it's functionality and due to changes in templates around the VDC, as well as just the quality of the previous code this bot will be rewritten soon.
Note.pngNote:THIS BOT IS NOT PERFECT
While I am doing my best to account for all possible shenanigans a 19 year old wiki worked on by 46,516 users can throw at the bot, sometimes pages updated to {{Multipage}} WILL have weird/incorrect formatting. However, small, easily and quickly fixable formatting errors are 100% worth it considering the amount of time saved by automating this. There are over 2000 pages using {{lang}}, which would take an eternity to update by hand. There is nothing I can do about this, other than make the bot sentient I guess...

Purpose

Icon-Gnome-document-properties.png

The current purpose of this bot is to transition pages using {{lang}} to {{multipage}}. Some work has already been done.
Other possible tasks which could be done should the bot ever become functional include:

  • Auto compressing files
Note.pngNote:Confirmed currently impossible due to the servers blocking image uploads
  • Automatically generating entity pages from an FGD (documentation such as how to use an entity would and should obviously still be done manually, this would just automate the boring and repetitive tasks such as copying and pasting keyvalues and whatnot)
  • Combatting spammers
Note.pngNote:Also confirmed currently impossible due to the servers blocking quite a few functions from the library I use (or maybe the library is just outdated, no way to know for sure though)

General information

Icon-gnome-chat.png
  • When was this bot created? This bot was created on Jan 1st, 2024.
  • Why the name WisdomBot? Because it's like Wisdurm but not? Idk I had to come up with something...
  • Why is there an emergency shutoff? While I can shut down the bot literally just by closing the program, it will most likely run without supervision quite often, and in case I do not notice anything, the button allows other users on this wiki to make it stop.
  • Are logs stored? Yes, most actions (all large edit sprees) are logged onto my computer. If you would like to request a log, just leave a message. How useful these logs are is an entirely different question.

Past edits

Gnome-document-open.png

As of writing (since there is no way to update this in real time) this bot has made 2098 edits, which is a lot more than I've made on my main account...
  • This bot has succesfully updated all pages using {{entity}}, {{format}}, {{Base brush multi}}, {{Base point multi}}, {{Brush ent}} and {{Point ent}}, as well as most of their derivatives like {{hl2 point}}, to use {{this is a}}.
  • This bot has with the help of Thunder4ik, moved all pages from Category:Level Design Tutorials to Category:Level_Design
  • This bot has moved around 250ish pages using {{lang}} to {{multipage}} compliant page names, while also updating the templates.

Note.pngNote:This page had some formatting copied from User:PIPEbot's old page, it looked good and I figured it doesn't really matter.
