Hey, should we be adding the Infobox engine template to third-party engine branch pages like this one? I'd like to get someone's input on this before making any edits I'm not supposed to. --EvilEMG (talk) 2:03, 23 Jul 2024

The infobox engine template is designed to be used on the main engine pages, like GoldSrc. Currently, engine branch pages don't use infoboxes, and adding one to Svengine in particular would make it less consistent with the other engine branch pages.

That being said, I think there is merit in putting infoboxes on the other engine branch pages as well. Many of {{Infobox engine}}'s parameters differ between branches, and it may be useful to see those differences at a glance. This could potentially call for a unique {{Infobox engine branch}} template, but I think the regular engine infobox already contains all of the parameters which would be useful for this. It apparently even supports a separate engine field, although I'm not sure if that's intentional.

I don't mean to make this conversation 10x more complicated, but I'm curious about this too and I'd like to see what anyone else thinks. —Blixibon (talk) 19:52, 22 July 2024 (PDT)
