Hello there. I would like feedback or suggestions on this page, as I feel it is a dire need in the Portal 2 modding community. Not every modder knows how this logic is done, and no tutorial (to my knowledge) exists on the internet about how to accomplish this. Please, contribute or comment if you would like. If there is significant consensus about the completion of the article, it can be moved to the mainspace, but as of now I think its too new to be moved there. -Equalizer, aka the better pickaxe (talk) 20:48, 17 August 2024 (PDT)
- We do know
_level_sounds.txtworks for custom music too, though it requires overriding for each map depending on the map pack's size. CS:GO's branch does not have this, though I'd suspect Strata Source brings it back. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 00:38, 7 October 2024 (PDT)- Glad I found this article by chance. I have also been experimenting with sound and music in Portal 2 for some time and it felt like the best I can find is soundscripts and soundscapes, there's no documentation about the actual sound engine or the workflow when testing and editing soundscripts or audio files. When I created a level with synchronized music for laser catchers last year, I came up with a custom article User:Popcorn/Dynamic Laser Music because I didn't know a better place to write down my findings (and questions). I was also interested in the other use cases of dynamic music such as tractor beam music, which is why I'm happy to find this article of yours, I'll link it. --popcorn (talk) 20:48, 15 July 2026 (PDT)
