Point Insertion is the first chapter of Half-Life 2. Here, the player gains control of protagonist Gordon Freeman, learning the basic control scheme in the process.
A train hurdles towards City 17, with Gordon Freeman onboard. As he steps out, Dr. Breen begins speaking from a giant holograhic screen:
- "Welcome. Welcome to City 17. You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. I thought so much of City 17 that I elected to establish…my administration here, in the Citadel so thoughtfully provided by…our benefactors. I have been proud to call City 17 my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown…welcome to City 17. It's safer here."
Half-Life 2 has begun.
In any area of City 17 the buildings would be diliapidated and run-down, and litter would be everywhere. It can be any time of day in your map, but a Citadel in the skybox is imperative!
Metropolice and citizens are a must for larger streets and buildings, unless they are somehow cut off or abandoned. Remember to make everything fit your purposes, yet still seem logical.
Payphones with cut cords can be found scattered around the train station and in the ration building.
