VPK ("Valve PacK") is a package format used by post-GCF Source engine games to store content, as well as in Source 2. It was first introduced in Left 4 Dead engine branch, and later used in all other Source games (during SteamPipe, with the introduction of Source 2013 branch).
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines also use similar file extension, but the package format is not the same as Valve's VPK.
