Team Fortress 2 Team Fortress 2 is the follow-up to both Team Fortress Classic Team Fortress Classic and the original Quake Quake mod, Qtf-16px.png Team Fortress.

Unlike other "class-based" games that offer a variety of combat classes only, Team Fortress 2 packs a wild variety of classes which provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills.

Play as the flame-throwing Pyro, the room-clearing Heavy, or the Spy, a master of stealth and disguises. Other classes include: Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, Demoman, and Soldier.

Since June 2011, Team Fortress 2 Team Fortress 2 is now available for free, separated from other packages such as The Orange Box The Orange Box.

There have been over 700 updates since the game's release.

In April 19, 2024, a Team Fortress 2 Team Fortress 2 update has been released which features many changes, including 64-bit support, Vulkan renderer on Windows, WebM in favor of Bink videos, and MiniMP3 support, emoji support in chat (for Linux)[2], more than 4GB RAM support and better performance[1]. 64-bit update is not available for Mac users, however.

System Requirements

Last updated: February 18, 2024

Windows
Minimum Recommended
Operating system (OS) 7, 8, 8.1 (with limitations due to Steam EOS)
10, 11
Processor (CPU) Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD equivalent
64-bit version of the game requires 64-bit capable CPU
System memory (RAM) 3-4 GB RAM
Hard disk drive (HDD/SSD) 25 GB
Video card (GPU) Nvidia GeForce 8xxx series/ATI Radeon X1600/Intel HD Graphics 3000 (DirectX 9 compatible)
Other 64-bit version of the game at the moment requires Windows 10 (or possibly 8.1), due to a bug that crashes the game as soon you have joined the servers (or by creating a local one) on older OS.
Note.pngNote:DirectX 9 is required for Competitive Mode, and since April 19, 2024 (64-bit) update, DirectX 9 is now required in order to play the game as support DirectX 8.1 is currently broken with the 64-bit update.
Note.pngNote:* - Technically, this game is still playable on Windows XP and Vista (and once used to be supported on those operating systems), however support for Steam for these operating systems has been dropped as of 2019, and with TF2 having the Steam API updated later that year, thus these operating systems are automatically no longer supported from running TF2. Additionally, Windows 7 and 8, 8.1 support for Steam has been dropped in 2024, which may affect TF2 if the Steam API was updated for this game.
Note.pngNote:As the game received updates over time, the system requirements listed on Steam is now massively out of date as the Pentium 4 and systems with 2GB RAM (both, which is listed on Recommended requirements on Steam), will struggled to run the game properly with average FPS at 8-15.

Furthermore, updates may also affect the Storage requirements over time.
