Half-Life: The Legacy Collection (formerly The Classic Collection) is an upcoming fan-made preservation and restoration project developed by
The Phoenix Project Software. It aims to recreate the original release version of
Half-Life and its official expansions
Half-Life: Opposing Force and
Half-Life: Blue Shift, as they were in 1998-2001, while incorporating modern technical updates for stability, performance, and platform compatibility.
The collection restores presentation elements such as intro movies, original menus, and user interface scaling, in addition to gameplay features and quirks that were altered or removed in subsequent updates to the original games. The Legacy Collection also promises to introduce the changelog of Half-Life's 25th Anniversary Update to the expansions.
