Steam Community is a page which features user-generated content such as Discussions, Steam Workshop and Broadcasts. Every games on Steam has a community section which allows you to post screenshots, artworks, guides and more, or discuss the game with another Steam users.
Steam Community also features Markets, a place which allows you to sell or buy item for a specific game (such as Counter-Strike 2 (formerly Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), Dota 2 or Team Fortress 2).
History
Steam Community was launched in August 6, 2007 as a public beta. The Steam client was updated to include a in-game overlay, which also replaces the "Friends" feature in all GoldSrc and Source games. Users can use the overlay to view Friends, find Players or visit the Steam Community via overlay web browser. This update was dubbed as "The Steam Community Update", and was later rolled out to all users on September 13, 2007.
Later, the in-game overlay was updated in June 2010 (alongside Steam redesign and switching web rendering from IE to WebKit (and later CEF in ~2013) for better cross-platform support), allowing users to visit any website via the in-game overlay.
