| First off, appreciate all the work you've been putting into VDC. Second, I just started editing and poking around. I've noticed quite a few pages for games that are available on Steam. What is the purpose for all of these?

Hi. I noticed you added some information like this to the engine branch pages:

| Please don't remove all the page contents when you mark a page for deletion. I understand the page might not be pertinent, but those of us who want to help review items on Reasons for speedy deletion need to see the page as it stands. If everything is removed and the template says the page is useless (or something similar), I'm not going to waste my time looking at page history to try to see what the page used to be.

| Please try to avoid creating articles with an absolute position like Anomalous Materials (BMS). Instead, make such articles subpages of the project (See the examples below).

We need to sort the wiki content better so that it is easier for both editors and administrators to work with it. Also, it may be worth renaming Black Mesa (Source), since this name looks terrible in the links.

I noticed that when moving BSPZIP to BSPZIP/en, you copied all the text over to the new page, then replaced the content of the old page. It is preferable, when possible, to instead use the Move button that appears when you click the More arrow next to the search bar; that way the edit history prior to movement is retained.<br/>— SirYodaJedi (talk) 08:49, 22 May 2023 (PDT)

Can i get the source file for the Valve Engines diagram?

There are some branches that aren't on that diagram (These ones), can I get the source file for that image? Or if it isnt possible, can you add these branches to the image? -Mr. System Error(T - C) 14:03, 18 January 2025 (PST)

Too many to fit into one image and also games (even if it's introducing new engine features), shouldn't be added here unless they are incompatible with each other or made major modifications (there may be some exceptions through like Svengine, which are made for one game but have major modifications that made it incompatible with GoldSrc).
For example, HL2: Update shouldn't be listed here since it's just older version of Source 2013 SP, and same for PUNT, Tactical Intervention and The Stanley Parable, which made minor modifications to Portal 2 engine. About GoldSrc aswell, console ports shouldn't be marked as branches, and Spirit of Half-Life is basically Mapbase but for GoldSrc. --leonidakarlach (talk) 21:02, 18 January 2025 (PST)
Maybe you can put some of them into little notes that you have on the image? For example: "-PUNT and The Stanley Parable use modified versions of Portal 2 branch, Punt added *add most important features*, and TSP added *also most important features*" or something like that. But they do little modifications to the branches, as you said, so maybe not put them, or put them, i dont know, its your choice and image after all, im not trying to force things, just giving suggestions that could improve things -Mr. System Error(T - C) 01:19, 19 January 2025 (PST)

Engine build version / protocol

Hi. I noticed you added some information like this to the engine branch pages:

The engine versions for this branch are build 2547 (Lost Coast) or 2761 (EP1) up to 4044 (Protocol 7).

I wonder how can I get that kind of information? I'm trying to guess what branch a given game belongs to based on it's files. Could you share anything about that? Also, can I reach you on discord? Unsigned comment added by XBLAH (talkcontribs) Always sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)

Build information are available on Google Spreadsheets made by SourceRuns community. I do have Discord through (user: leonidakl360) so feel free to contact me there. --leonidakarlach (talk) 05:07, 25 February 2025 (PST)
