:Seriously now, go contact someone from Valve if you don't agree with what powered users of this wiki are saying. Unless they say you are right, then you are wrong. You don't have any more rights than anyone here. This is a goddamn wiki, if two people say you're wrong, and you're the only one to think you're not, then you're wrong. That's it, if you don't agree or don't understand the way a wiki works, then get the hell out of it. --[[User:NykO18|NykO18]] 21:57, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

:::If an admin states a rule somewhere, it is a real rule. You quote Jeff Lane's answer to something, yet, when we quote something he, or another admin said, but just longer ago, you ignore it. Thus, YOU, not we, are bending the rules. [[User:Solokiller|Solokiller]] 18:19, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

:::::[[Category_talk:HL2_Third_Party_Mods| This]] page has discussion on the usage of more than one page per mod, as it is a discussion between several users of this wiki, it also counts as a rule, as the admins, who are VALVe employees do not have all the time to check up on this wiki. Also, if you want to know for sure which rules exist, i suggest you search the wiki for them, as i'm not going to spend hours searching through thousands of edits and hundreds of pages just so you would stop messing things up. This is still a development wiki, not a mod wiki. If you want to put tons of pages filled with information on your mod online, there's always the half-life wiki, if they allow it. ::::::I'm calling BS on that one. no matter how many collective users decide to make a rule, the final say goes to the admins/moderators. and they have not had their final say on that talk page.

The VDC used to show how many times a page was accessed. It has been a while since it was removed and I would like to see it back.

Please consider adding back the [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:HitCounters hit counters extension] again.

Thanks.

== Preview without reloading is broken ==

Since the latest MediaWiki update previewing without reloading no longer works, showing the error "API Error: unknown_useskin". This is an incredibly useful feature, as it prevents your browsing history from being filled with "Editing <page>", and there are very few cases where you actually need to reload for changes to apply properly. Please fix this.

== Should I add redirects with translated names to translated templates? ==

So like for instance if a chinese person wanted to use <code><nowiki>Template:Confirm:zh-cn</nowiki></code>, it would likely be annoying to use it, as they would need to either copy paste english text or use an english keyboard to type in <code><nowiki>{{confirm:zh-cn}}</nowiki></code>, which not all chinese people want to do. If there was a template redirect page named simply <code><nowiki>Template:确认</nowiki></code> that redirected to <code><nowiki>Template:Confirm:zh-cn</nowiki></code>, then chinese people would only have to type in <code><nowiki>{{确认}}</nowiki></code> to use the chinese confirm template.

In my opinion this would make it easier for chinese people to insert chinese templates. Right? - [[User:Amicdict|Amicdict]] ([[User talk:Amicdict|talk]]) 15:35, 14 September 2021 (PDT)

:No, namespaces make searching a pain, as you have to type out the entire name of the namespace, plus a colon, to search for something other than Main. :::::::If that's the case, then why are you editing a wiki? Preview without reloading is broken

Since the latest MediaWiki update previewing without reloading no longer works, showing the error "API Error: unknown_useskin". Should I add redirects with translated names to translated templates?

So like for instance if a chinese person wanted to use Template:Confirm:zh-cn, it would likely be annoying to use it, as they would need to either copy paste english text or use an english keyboard to type in {{confirm:zh-cn}}, which not all chinese people want to do. If there was a template redirect page named simply Template:确认 that redirected to Template:Confirm:zh-cn, then chinese people would only have to type in {{确认}} to use the chinese confirm template.

In my opinion this would make it easier for chinese people to insert chinese templates. Right? - Amicdict (talk) 15:35, 14 September 2021 (PDT)

Nothing beyond the Valve Developer Community:Policies and Guidelines stuff. Wikipedia style guides generally apply, but this wiki has a substance over style attitude, so it's not a huge deal how it's formatted as long as it gets the point across clearly and professionally.
