Question about Gameinfo.txt page edit

Hello, I'm writing regarding your addition in Gameinfo.txt about search paths, where you explained the load order in detail. I would like to ask, in which games has this order been tested? I'm asking because the behaiour described there doesn't match my observations in some games. For example, in HL2 and TF2, the engine searches for files in order, regardless of whether it's a VPK or a path, meaning that if a path is above a .vpk, it will be scanned before that .vpk (at this point I assume that this exact search order is present in all source games released before Left 4 Dead). Also, in Garry's Mod, it looks like the search order is as follows: own game folder, own VPKs, VPKs from mount.cfg, paths from mount.cfg. Since I'm not entirely certain about the source of your information, I would appreciate it if you could add relevant notes to the above wiki page. -drinkly (talk) 12:09, 24 July 2024 (PDT)

I did this in L4D2. TF2 and GMOD don't exactly allow gameinfo edits anyways, at least not when it comes to adding mod content. Tf2 somehow just doesn't allow it at all, and gmod uses mount.cfg afaik.

minor edit

Information icon Hi MrFunreal! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typographical error or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. --Nescius (talk) 17:41, 3 May 2026 (PDT)

I thought it was minor, as i had fixed a mistake by renaming an "east" to "west" and adding a bit of info that doesn't really change the page or its content, other than a bit more context to get the point across better. --MrFunreal (talk) 02:49, 4 May 2026 (PDT)
