Filetype icons?

I was thinking that common extensions could perhaps have an icon that indicates it's contents. Unknown file extensions would instead display a page icon, like PCGamingWiki's {{file}} template; this would help distinguish from folders, as the same icon is currently used for both. Feel free to edit the table after my signature, which contains ideas.

span tag bug

See xwad; it's showing <span title="Path to common\SourceSDK\bin\<branchname>\bin\xwad.exe" style="display:inline-flex; align-items:center; line-height:1.35em"> in front of the path.

Same thing here on most pages, any characters with "<" or ">" can break the "span title" which displays the text when you hover the icon or text (used to explaining more details and for better accessibility), gonna try to fix it if possible.

Edit: nowiki would break template so looks like we cant for now. --Kr0tchet (talk) 14:15, 1 Jul 2023

We should port a variant of Pcgw icon.png Template:Path, then. Greater than and less than signs are standard practice for wrapping these sorts of foobars.

Edit: Nowiki doesn't seem to break anything important. --SirYodaJedi (talk) 18:21, 1 Jul 2023

Split the Windows Registry as irrelevant here

I have nothing to add. --Lxm6 (talk) 16:18, 18 Jul 2023

The file extension should include the dot

It won't matter for this wiki, but with lots of short pages, collisions are very possible. Collisions with titles like .zip are less likely. ZIP are US postal codes by the way. --Lxm6 (talk) 13:26, 20 Jul 2023

Collisions are highly unlikely; they're more likely to end up on a disambig page. Also, ZIP codes are irrelevant to this wiki, and even so, their page name would be ZIP code not ZIP. --SirYodaJedi (talk) 13:50, 20 Jul 2023

Their awkward comment doesn't defeat my logic and my example. ZIP (or zip) are not just ZIP files. As I said, the problem will be obvious with larger wikis elsewhere. --Lxm6 (talk) 13:53, 20 Jul 2023
