Template talk:Lang:zh-cn
What's This For?
I'm afraid I don't really see the point in this template. it looks to me like it's just a copy of {{lang}}

- The difference is that the Chinese flag is the first to be displayed on the language bar. It is used for pages where the main page language is Chinese. 大康 (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2022 (PDT)
- I guess that makes sense. but how about, to avoid having a version of this for every language, we instead have the base template auto-detect the language (same way as it determines language category) and automatically move that language to the front?
- actually wait I might be able to do that myself Kestrelguy (talk) 20:39, 21 October 2022 (PDT)
nevermind it's nearly midnight but I think I totally can do it myself tomorrow Kestrelguy (talk) 20:41, 21 October 2022 (PDT)- All right, thanks for your contributions. I wish you every success in this work.
Also, I suggest you might be able to specify the language of the main page via template parameters. By manual specifying, it can be easy to know what the language of the main page is.
For example, we can specify the language of the main page by {{{mainlang}}}, and the template decides which language flag should be placed in front according to this parameter. 大康 (talk) 23:34, 21 October 2022 (PDT)
