Talk:VIP Map Creation
I just saw my article was tagged with the dreaded cleanup tag, without any comments on how it can be improved. So...please suggest or change any errors in this article -otherwise I'll be deleting the cleanup tag in a few days. Nfpartridge
There's actually some pictures in your articles that can be converted into templates, and there are some formatting issues, like linking to entities the first time they're mentioned, and using "' '...' '" and <code>...</code> tags. I'll solve these issues in the next hours unless lightning strikes from a blue sky. --Andreasen 08:47, 12 Sep 2006 (PDT)
- Yeah, sorry about that. I should have added it to the talk-page but the nice folks here seem to cleaned up your article --dutchmega 09:15, 12 Sep 2006 (PDT)
TODO's -> Done's
TODO: "Must", or "should"? Will the VIP mod totally malfunction or refuse to play the map if it doesn't begin like this, or is it just the standard format?
- RE: This is a "must". I just did some experimentation with my server running the latest version of the VIP mod (1.0E). I duplicated and renamed a working vip map so the copy did not contain the as_ prefix. The renamed version did not work, whereas the original did. The article has been changed to include this clarification.
TODO: Did I do this right, or is the vip_teleport supposed to replace the vip_escapezone?
- RE: You did this correctly, assuming the coordinates are inside the map. Otherwise, it might be a nasty surprise to mr. vip.
TODO: What test map??
- RE: Sorry, I mostly copied this from lduke's tut. Thought I got rid of all references to his (non-existant) test map. The valve wiki article has been updated accordingly.
Again, thanks Andreasen, Giles and Dutchmega for the help. I confess the errors were made from ignorance (at least not laziness!), and I'll update my other article(s) accordingly.Nfpartridge 11:07, 12 Sep 2006 (PDT)
- Ignorance is not a problem, it can be cured. Leanrining is the point fo this wiki. Pure unadulatrated stupidty on the other hand... But hey I only find that on CSS servers nowerdays, and the roads outside my house and school and...
- Anyway, I figured I throw in the link for the VMF documentation incase someone is uncofrtable going into thier .vmf file. Let them know exactly what their looking at. --Angry Beaver 17:28, 12 Sep 2006 (PDT)
