1024x1024

I recall quite a few textures in HL2 which the dimensions 1024x1024, for instance the cliffs in the coast chapters, why does this article state that the Episode One engine doesn't support 1024x1024 textures when it clearly does? --Sortie 22:59, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Any clue as to who actually wrote this program, is he a user here? --Tourorist 12:22, 3 Oct 2007 (PDT)

I think Snakez From HL2world wrote it. --Frostbite 12:56, 3 Oct 2007 (PDT)

Friend wrote me a model conversion program, it simply changes the header to IDST, So yeah, can't release it, but all you need todo to convert models for viewing use is change the model header (with hex editor or whatever) to "IDST," --Frostbite 12:56, 3 Oct 2007 (PDT)

This article can likely be safely deleted now.

I've gone on a hunt and found 4 download links in total. All 4 do not work and have no archived copies on archive.org. I've even contacted someone from a Russian forum who had posted about the program to see if they still had a copy. They do not. I have put additional feelers out to see if anyone I know may have a copy as well but I don't expect to hear back. The final nail in the coffin for this article is that this program wasn't ever needed. You can simply use any hex editor, such as HxD, and edit the values on the very first line to change the version number manually. It takes all of 3 seconds. Safe to say this article can be deleted. Could you elaborate on this? I could implement this in my own software. - XBLAH
Sure thing! When you open a VTF file in something like HxD, the bits at offset 00000000, blocks 04 and 08 are the VTF version numbers. In the linked image, the version would obviously be 7.4. Hope this helps! TF2CutContent (talk) 07:38, 12 October 2023 (PDT)
A working download was found! TF2CutContent (talk) 22:48, 12 October 2023 (PDT)
Also, I cannot seem to get it to actually downgrade a VTF version. I've tried plopping it into steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin and dragging and dropping a VTF of version 7.4/7.3 on it and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm likely using it entirely wrong though. However, I can confirm that it is a proper FixVTF download after examining the EXE in a hex editor. TF2CutContent (talk) 22:56, 12 October 2023 (PDT)
I was using it totally wrong. And a proper complete download was found too! TF2CutContent (talk) 23:33, 12 October 2023 (PDT)
