Behind The Scenes Modified Voice Sounds

When in the BTS section of the game, how do you make the voice sound like it comes from the intercom? In portal beta, the sound of glados sounded like you were still in the test chambers. But in portal, they seem to have edited the sounds to sound like it comes from an intercom.

They put a VOX(?) filter on the wav files themselves, no entity setup for it. Loudslappingsounds (talk) 06:55, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
They actually use a env_microphone and info_target setup with one microphone and one speaker target for every scene. The target is placed at a speaker model near where the player would hear the scene and the DSP on the microphone is set to 8 LOUDSPEAKER, ECHO. — Dr. Orange talk · contributions 09:13, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for you response Dr. Orange and Loudslappingsounds. I did know that they used the microphone and the speaker target entity. But I have created the portal AI voice successfully, but I couldn't find a program that would add a "vox" filter to the audio files. :EDIT: Could anybody also give a guess for which program valve may have used or at least one that could do the job? --Mandrew (talk) 03:27, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
I managed to find what Valve used to create the speaker effect. I asked Tim Larkin what was used and he said that he used a VST Plugin named "Audio Ease Speakerphone". Unfortunately he doesn't remember what effects were used to create the speaker effect. --Mandrew (talk) 20:09, 17 May 2022 (PDT)
