A movie is a story told through a sequence of shots synchronized with sounds, and editing is the art of creating that story out of those shots and sounds. Ultimately, an editor creates the final version of the movie you see in theaters.
The SFM was developed with editing as its central feature, which means it has powerful editing options, including the ability to work extensively with time. You can add and remove shots, move them on the timeline, stretch and compress them, and copy and paste them.
Because what you're working with is 3D motion data instead of static images, you have nearly infinite flexibility to make any changes at any point in creating your movie.
