Talk:Applying Textures/v2draft
Criteria
In what ways do you feel this rewrite meets the needs of a new user better than the current article? What metric are you using to determine that this version is more successful? --JeffLane 22:47, 27 Aug 2006 (PDT)
- Back when I made it I was annoyed at the multitude of images all showing different parts of the same screen, the huge vertical expanse that made the process look more complex than it actually is, and the massive amounts of whitespace after each image. --TomEdwards 01:50, 28 Aug 2006 (PDT)
- Well, I can tell you we put several brand new Hammer users through the initial version of this tutorial, and they were never commented that they were confused, daunted, or annoyed by either the amount of steps or the number of images. Quite the opposite, they were confused when there were steps missing that were not explicitly stated in the instructions (which we then fixed wherever it was noted). We could try to do some further consolidation of images/steps where it makes sense. --JeffLane 12:29, 28 Aug 2006 (PDT)
- I did a pass on consolidating the article so that it uses less images, and moved the images to the right so the text flows better. --JeffLane 13:30, 28 Aug 2006 (PDT)
- That looks like a good compromise! --TomEdwards 13:54, 28 Aug 2006 (PDT)
