PROBLEM FIGURING OUT OUTPUT DIR FOR .... THIS IS THE WORST TOOL EVER MADE

takes like a rocket scientist, i already used it a whole bunch of times. everytime i go back to use it on something, i have to figure it out all over again. so pissed

Is this a question or a statement?—ts2do 22:28, 5 Apr 2006 (PDT)

I had the same problem just now, but it went away when I simply went into the Source SDK menu, and simply clicked on the Current Game drop-down list (after having deleted that environment value in that list described under Troubleshooting, but that alone didn't fix things). Now I just have to have to make it interpret my texture as not being bogus. This is not a working tool. --Andreasen 22:21, 21 Oct 2006 (PDT)

Have you tried any of the alternatives listed on the bottom of the VTF page? --Nem 13:04, 26 Oct 2006 (PDT)
Actually it works like a charm now, once I've gotten the hang of it. =) I guess I was just being stupid after all. --Andreasen 19:43, 27 Aug 2007 (PDT)

If you have Photoshop, just install the VTF plugin. You can edit your texture or decal or whatever, and save it directly as a VTF file without the lame targa middleman stage. soooooo much easier than that stupid vtex tool. Good point. That should probably be put into some sort of material creation page as a note. --Daedalus 02:51, 23 Mar 2007 (PDT)
