I have never contributed to achievements. What are you talking about and why did you put the same text on almost every candiate? Mr. System Error(T - C) 07:00, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

All 4 of you have done a lot of work to make the wiki worse. The 'achivements' was only an example of the ways you and your friends have made VDC nigh-on-unusable. - Vaya Mapcore (talk) 12:07, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

Same thing can be said about me, I never make any change to user interface or the main page itself that would be hard or confusing to navigate. The only thing I did is fix the grammar on the User:THE OWL then redesigned home page which was quickly removed as it's confusing to navigate. For other templates, I fixed various categorization and other bugs on template, and merging similar templates (such as {{Game release}} to {{Software status}}) in order to making it more up to date easier without having to editing each one. --leonidakarlach (talk) 07:12, 17 June 2024 (PDT)
yes and this all disgusting stuff. VDC barely runs as it is without these overburdened pages. Why would I need a games metacritic score on the VDC, its steam deck status? this is meant to be a resource for modders and devs. This is why I voted you both down. I hope you understand this. - Vaya Mapcore (talk) 12:07, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

Honestly I get the frustration with how the wiki is currently, even if I don't necessarily completely agree. There's definitely a lot of cleanup that could be done on this wiki, and there hasn't really ever been much discussion about it. I don't think pages about games really serve any wiki intended purpose, other than to serve as links for the doc pages. They're obviously very crowded with useless info and are just made for fun. I'm also guessing most of the people currently active on this wiki don't even really know that much about making mods. Sure everyone has probably made some maps, but not having many super experienced editors is honestly a problem, so be the change you want to see. On a completely different note though, I don't really see how the achievements thing affects the average user, since they're just hidden away on user pages, like on other wikis. I am also curious about what "nigh-on-unusable" means. Obviously the main page is hard as hell to edit currently, but in general I don't really see how an average page like func_viscluster is too difficult. Sure there's definitely a learning curve for figuring out what the fuck {{this is a|brush entity|internal=1|name=func_viscluster|since=Half-Life 2: Episode Two|sprite=toolstrigger.gif}} means, but every wiki uses templates, and if you can't be bothered to figure out the relatively simple parameters for templates, I genuinely believe that's a problem with you. Also if you mean the slowness of this wiki, then I'm pleased to say that's something that's genuinely being looked into.
Anyway cheers. Please share more of your opinions about this site even if others aren't too happy about it, a new perspective is always helpful. (also please sign your messages) Wisdurm (talk) 07:39, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

changing the templates in the first place is part of the issue. None of this 'work' is needed and is making the VDC objectively worse. Thanks - Vaya Mapcore (talk) 07:50, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

also 'the change you want to see' is very difficult when you have users breaking templates constantly. It would be very hard to get VDC back to usable - Vaya Mapcore (talk) 07:52, 17 June 2024 (PDT)

Vaya Mapcore, have you ever wondered where metacritic came from? (if anything, we just improved on the huge crap that existed before us).

And how come you don't need Steam Deck data? Oh yeah, you're not a game developer, you're a mapper...

And it's people like you who decide what's useful here? Really? You don't even remember what existed here before, when I couldn't even think of editing this wiki. You also consider a thing created not only for players useless just because you don't need it yourself due to work. --THE OWL 5:59, 18 Jun 2024 (UTC)

You won't believe it, but a lot of things we just adapted to the new way of doing things. Not everything that's in here is made exclusively by us. Moreover, we mostly just experimented with what already exists, trying not to touch much of what is already there. It was not always possible not to touch something, of course, but the experiments will eventually unify the wiki content and make it easier to read, which was and still is impossible, because there are still few detailed explanations for newcomers, and an experienced user has to spend a lot of time trying to find the right thing among the mountains of text.

The wiki you remember was never a normal place for documentation. That's why many alternatives were created, which were preferable to a permanently broken stuff. We just started, but didn't complete the journey to rebirth the wiki. --THE OWL 6:24, 18 Jun 2024 (UTC)

Some of us work on documentation, others try to improve the appearance and capabilities of the wiki. This is normal and this is why we are not required to contribute only to the content of the articles. I'll work on it, but not right now, thanks. --THE OWL 6:31, 18 Jun 2024 (UTC)
