Stop messing with the main page

(using Template:Message)  This is a great way to make Valve take drastic steps that hurt the wiki. Do not ruin this.  --Wazanator (talk) 3:32, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  What? Why would Valve take "drastic" steps the hurt the wiki when the only thing that was undone was the work of people to improve the wiki? Think about it.  --Ableitung (talk) 5:08, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  In the wiki's current state, I'd rather them do anything than nothing at this point.

(using Template:Message)  The front page is a protected page for a reason. You are adding unneeded garbage to it. You are adding links to 3rd party sites in a way that makes it look like valve is endorsing them. What do you think Valve is going to do when they eventually notice someone is defacing their wiki to endorse 3rd party sites. If you want them to update things directly contact them.  --Wazanator (talk) 18:10, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  It's not that deep bro. They can do whatever they want with the homepage, I don't care. I just added those links out of convenience for some of the users here.  --Mailmanmicky (talk) 22:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

(using Template:Message)  It's not spam. The wikis that are put on the main page are part of the Valve wiki network, which contains the Team Fortress wiki, another official wiki from Valve. While the other wikis may be unofficial, they are still the wikis with the largest amount of content pertaining to those games, which do not belong on this wiki. Users may come to this wiki looking for lore and story behind the portal gun, only to find the weapon_portalgun article and not actually find what they are looking for. Not only that, but Valve clearly has lost any interest in this wiki whatsoever. This also leads to why the other content regarding reaching out to admins on this wiki is there. This wiki's software is incredibly out of date and is no longer supported whatsoever. I understand where you are coming from Wazanator, but you are essentially thinking way too deeply about this. If Valve does find out, then they will most likely not even care or embrace it, as they realize that people are active and care about this wiki and that they are doing good things with it. Think about it. This is a development wiki that intends to help out developers and mapmakers with games. Treating it like some high-up, we-need-to-preserve-this-it-is-a-wonder-of-the-modern-world is not at all what this wiki is about. The main page is the least of our concerns. What's the difference between linking to Wikipedia and linking to the Portal Wiki? They are both other wikis, not created by Valve, that contain information that is not appropriate on this wiki. Linking to an unofficial Discord I understand is not very professional, however linking to other professional wikis should not be so heavily policed.  --Equalizer5118 (talk) 16:18, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
