Team Fortress 2 is the follow-up to Team Fortress Classic, which was a remake of the Quake mod Team Fortress. It was developed by Valve for release on the PC (via Steam), Xbox360, and PS3. It shipped with Half-Life 2: Episode Two [1] and Portal on October 10, 2007.

Beginning September 17, 2007, the beta version of Team Fortress 2 was playable by those who owned Valve's Orange Box. The beta version featured a more or less complete game with six maps.

Support for TF2, as well the other Orange Box games, was added in an update to the Source SDK on Nov 8th, 2007.
