AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is a RIFF-based video container format. The WON (pre-Steam) version of Half-Life Half-Life and pre-Orange Box versions of all Source games used it for opening logos. It was replaced by Bink (BIK), starting with Source 2007 Source 2007.
