Introduction
Oppressant. Littéraire. Brutal. Expérimental.
Se déclinant en une série d'épisodes se déroulant dans l'univers de Half-Life 2, MINERVA n’est pas une modification tout à fait comme les autres. Le premier épisode, baptisé Metastasis et rassemblant les trois premières cartes de la série, est en cours de développement par Adam Foster. La première carte, Carcinogenesis, a été publiée le 2 septembre 2005.
Les épisodes sont liés par une trame commune, qui, bien que basée sur l’univers de Half-Life 2, présente des éléments additionnels. Les joueurs remarqueront sans doute l'influence des titres comme Marathon et la série System Shock. Parmi les petites touches distinctives de MINERVA, on peut citer les instructions énigmatiques que le joueur reçoit de la part d’un mystérieux contact, qui revient ici après une apparition dans Someplace Else, une carte fort populaire conçue pour le moteur Half-Life 1.
