BMP, short for bitmap, is a raster graphics image format used by
GoldSrc. While the file format itself supports 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit formats, as well as
RLE compression for 8-bit and lower formats, GoldSrc exclusively uses the uncompressed 8-bit format for BMPs. The exception is the screenshot command, which creates a 24-bit BMP.
