Hammer Time!
Hammer Time!
In Build 2513, when Hammer was called WorldCraft 3.40 instead, there is a rare chance that when starting up Hammer, a midi of "U can't touch this" will begin to play and at the bottom left of the screen where it says "For Help, press F1", instead shows the following strings "You can't touch this", "Stop, Hammer time!" and "Hammer time!". 3 of those strings are randomly selected to replace "For Help, press F1" at the bottom left. This lasts for about 3-4 seconds before returning to normal. This easter egg does not exist anymore on modern versions of the Hammer editor due to the fact that quickly checking HL2 editor and the GMod editor via a hex editor showed that "Hammer time!" was no longer in the program.
When you run Worldcraft 3.40 (later renamed to Hammer) from Build 2513 (including the 2003 2.bold leak) for the first time, a MIDI of "U can't touch this" will play, and the text that usually says "For Help, press F1" will instead show one of the following strings: "You can't touch this", "Stop, Hammer time!" and "Hammer time!". This lasts for about 3-4 seconds before returning to normal. Under normal circumstances, this Easter Egg will only activate on the first run of the program. However, you can reactivate it by changing the "Hammer time" value under <code>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Hammer\General</code> in the Registry. This Easter Egg doesn't activate on modern versions of Hammer, as a search through the .exe in a hex editor shows that the string "Hammer time" isn't found in the file.

* Chapter 5: Focal Point
You can find Chumtoads lair without god or noclip, locate the body of liquid suggested in the previous paragraph(I recommend that you have at least above 70-80 health.) Now dive in the deep pond, go to the very bottom and look for a crack on a wall, make sure you don't run out of health, if your health gets below 50 or 40 before the wall is destroyed, quickly rise to the surface for air, (repeat until you find the crack in the wall,) then as soon as you find the crack, quickly break the wall the crack is on and go through the pipe, then break the plant web and jump out, then you find Chumtoad's lair, in there you find three chumtoads, then they'll disappear, and you'll find 10 snarks for use.
**While exploring Xen, you can find a large pool. If you dive in and swim all the way to the bottom (make sure to use God Mode), you'll find a wall with a crack in it. Break the wall, and you'll find the entrance to Chumtoad's Lair.
***While very difficult, you can enter Chumtoad's Lair without God Mode or Noclip. It requires a large amount of health and a couple of resurfaces for air, so make sure you're prepared before entering.

A note about the source of the phrase: actually, Duke Nukem was using a line from the great 1988 Sci Fi flick, "They Live" where former-wrestler-turned-actor Rowdy Roddy Piper says "It's time to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all outta bubble gum" and then begins blasting away at some disbelieving aliens. In the video game Duke Nukem paraphrases a bit, swapping the two actions and dropping out the bubbles, changing the last part to "...and I'm all outta gum."
This is a reference to the iconic line, first used in "They Live" from 1988, later used more famously in the 1991 game Duke Nukem.

Beneath a certain set of stairs, you'll find a crate. Break it, and destroy the vent cover that was underneath the crate. Crawl into it, and you will eventually reach a room with some satchels, a dead marine and a headcrab. On one of the walls to your left (relative to the way you came in) you will see some RILLER text made out of brushes. Dave Riller is designer of this map. It is a bit hard to spot at first, as it is textured the same as the walls are, but the flashlight makes it a bit easier.

In the last map of the chapter you arrive in a wide open mud flat area, bordered by the dam leading to Black Mesa East, containing a combine warehouse and a attacker helicopter. For this explanation, assume that the helicopter is already taken care of.
In the last map of the chapter, you arrive in a wide and muddy area, bordered by the dam leading to Black Mesa East, containing a combine warehouse and an attack helicopter.

At the start of the map, come out of the tunnel, through the mini "canyon" and turn left. Drive lengthways up the map and through the gateway until you reach a small wall at the very far end with two pipes in the side; the right one is blocked but the left one is open. Next, enable god mode or noclip (whichever is easiest to get past the radioactive sludge) and follow the pipe into the hill. At the end, you should come out into a cave where a lone Vortigaunt is roasting some headcrabs.
After defeating the helicopter and opening the gate, go through the warehouse and grab all health kits and suit charge (it will help immensely). Next, drive until you find a wall with two pipes; the right one is blocked but the left one is open. Climb into the tunnel using the airboat. Once you're ready, sprint through the toxic water (jumping reduces how long you're in it) until you find a split in the pipe. Take the turn, and continue sprinting until you find solid ground. Here, you find the singing vortiguant, who sings to the player and talks about the story. While you're listening, take a moment to absolutely slam the health kits and suit charge they give you in the cave. Once you're done, repeat the steps you did to enter the cave, but backwards.

After that, your health and power should be 100/100 now locate the tunnel suggested in the previous paragraph, using the airboat to prop you up, get in the tunnel then now sprint quickly on the sludge while jumping repetitively till you find a corner pipe, now quickly sprint up to the camp looking grounds, now that your health stopped dropping, you can relax until you get back out, them being forgiving in this game, they supplied you with health kits and batteries make sure you take them before making a trip back outside.

In the map de_inferno there is a room in Apartments that is referred to as "Boiler" on the games release it was a simple closed door. Fans soon noticed that the room was accessible in Counter-Strike Source and after an update a change note said that boiler had been added to boiler and the door was slightly opened to reveal the boiler. Later another update was released and the boiler was moved to the truck outside "Ruins" at the B Site.

When you run Worldcraft 3.40 (later renamed to Hammer) from Build 2513 (including the 2003 Half-Life 2 Half-Life 2 leak) for the first time, a MIDI of "U can't touch this" will play, and the text that usually says "For Help, press F1" will instead show one of the following strings: "You can't touch this", "Stop, Hammer time!" and "Hammer time!". This lasts for about 3-4 seconds before returning to normal. Under normal circumstances, this Easter Egg will only activate on the first run of the program. However, you can reactivate it by changing the "Hammer time" value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Hammer\General in the Registry. This Easter Egg doesn't activate on modern versions of Hammer, as a search through the .exe in a hex editor shows that the string "Hammer time" isn't found in the file.
