Forcing a Japanese-language (or any other language) article to have an English title seems to defeat part of the purpose of having non-English articles—if someone is not comfortable with English, he/she might not be able to recognize the English title. Why not translate the titles as well? Maven 12:28, 16 Sep 2005 (PDT)

  • I dunno. I thought it'd be nice to point out there is an alternative language for articles.

Well it's not forced. We proposed to do so. We chose to use English titles for Japanese pages because:
  • Japanese font might turn garbage on browsers with no Japanese font.
  • Category:Japanese serves as a portal with Japanese description about each article. So Japanese readers don't have to see English titles.
  • Title translations are not final, moving page every time I or someone changes mind is simply annoying. Using current English title structure is less painful.
So far I only get one complaint from Japanese speakers that we should add add Japanese title under English title, and I'm doing that way now. And I think I'll go on using English titles. Thanks for caring, Maven, AndrewNeo, and Pon -- N-neko
