I'll mark these left over images for deletion as I think that they're unnecessary. Edit: I have absolutely no clue on how to do this, because it doesn't say anywhere, so I'll just mark them with text and hope it is noticed. --Andreasen 00:31, 15 Feb 2006 (PST)

good idea. one thing you might want to mention about the keyboard anv is that you can access it during any other tool by pressing z.
i know I havent clicked the camera mode button in months till i went back to basics for some tuts. Angry Beaver 00:54, 15 Feb 2006 (PST)
Added the z key for toggling mouse steering. I think using cameras is really sucky too. (I haven't used them at all apart from perhaps the first hour of mapping, before I learned how to move with the keyboard.) I'm glad that we're rewriting this. Edit: Your sig lacked "--" You're not typing those sigs by hand, are you? There is a button in the toolbar, you know. --Andreasen 02:39, 15 Feb 2006 (PST)

The Spacebar shortcut should probably be mentioned. It's one of the most useful shortcuts to learn (even better than using the Z key). Also, there's a fair amount of overlap with the Hammer Viewports article, so it's probably worthwhile to link it.

Also, cameras are actually incredibly useful if you place multiple cameras at key spots in your level and use PGUP and PGDN to cycle through them. It can also be useful to quickly plop down a new camera at a location in the 2D views to check something (like a leak), then press DELETE to remove the camera when you're done and go back to where you were previously. Many level designers at Valve use multiple cameras. This is obviously not a novice technique, however. --JeffLane 23:09, 15 Feb 2006 (PST)

I think it comes down to the fact nobody knew you could jeff. Not so much "i don't know how, or why you should" more "I didn't realize you could" as your amending my .vmf doc pointed out. I never touched the camer tool cause it never gave me anything, if i knew i could snapshot an area with a set camera before then I'm pretty sure I would of gotten into the habit. Hence why i want to overhual or complemnt these beginenr tutorials. Let them know whats out there or where to look :) Oh as for the sig, i just spam the ~ key :) Angry Beaver 02:16, 16 Feb 2006 (PST)

Thanks Jeff, very helpful. --wisemx 03:53, 16 Feb 2006 (PST)
