im going to decompile lumberyard in a bit and ill post here what i find. looks like you've got most of it so no need for me to post

Great job, i'll look for some relevant pictures if i can be bothered.

I'm done with it now. Cleaned it up a bit so it's easier to read. If you need any help, contact me at [email protected] --Acegikmo 14:37, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)

This is the most terrible guide I've ever read, it needs some serious rewriting to format to the standards of the wiki.--Gear 17:09, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)

Sadly I agree. Gear, shall we clean things up in a bit then? --Msleeper 17:32, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)
The reason why I deleted his guide was there is no REAL experience behind this at all. Arena has only been out for one day, so it needs the technical touch to it, which no one can provide yet Until we really get into making an actual arena map that kicks ass. Also, "Let's" Sleeper--Gear 17:46, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)
Deletion agreed, history tells me the tutorial was terrible. Again, we're making tutorials here, which means it's a text containing "a general direction to making xxx maps", not "THIS is how you make xxx maps". --Baliame (talk) 17:51, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)
Yeah sleeper is gonna make a Arena map in the Meantime, as may I, but I'd like to get some real Arena success from even other mappers before getting a detailed guide here.--Gear 18:00, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)
Err are we overreacting to this? Some people (i.e. me, a few hours ago) might just want the entity setup information... Which is what the article provided, even if it needed some better formatting. --Campaignjunkie (talk) 20:27, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)
Agreed, it might not have been a great tutorial, but there was enough information available for an experienced mapper to make a basic Arena map without having to use a decompiler. I could see removing the page if it read like something that had been Babelfish'd through three different languages or if the information was completely incorrect, but removing a tutorial because it isn't informative enough or isn't up to standard seems counter intuitive. It was 100% better then a blank page with no information at all. --brandished 07:46, 21 Aug 2008 (PDT)

First of all, I didn't make the tutorial for people who haven't made TF2 maps before. I assumed you already knew the basics. Secondly, it was made so you would get started with your maps as quickly as possible. But sure, rewrite it if you want. And lastly, I've never used wiki formatting, this was my first time really, so take it easy. I'll clean it up. --Acegikmo 22:34, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)

Done cleaning. It's alot better now. --Acegikmo 23:37, 20 Aug 2008 (PDT)

I was going more over to rewriting it later, when we have alot more information about arena, but that may come later. We have too many tuts now based on just entity setups, sure thats nice, but god wheres the love and thought that goes into the real back story of a gameplay mode.--Gear 04:29, 21 Aug 2008 (PDT)
I might write some more about the design/layout of Arena maps later --Acegikmo 07:17, 21 Aug 2008 (PDT)
Actually don't even bother man, this article is way to big for something simple.--Gear 00:47, 13 Sep 2008 (PDT)

Arena Enity

i know it doesnt exist,i try and look for "tf_logic_arena", i press Find Next, it says, "Cannot find "tf_logic_arena"". So what do i do? Could i go to an already made Arena map, find the enity, copy it and add it to my map?--Fire Tock 18:40, 13 Sep 2008 (PDT)

Copying and pasting isn't something you should do. You also might want to work on your grammar ;). Really though, the entity exists, but the inputs always seem to be broken, if thats what you mean.--Gear 19:43, 13 Sep 2008 (PDT)
oops, wrong sectino, that was for my other contribution.--Fire Tock 20:05, 13 Sep 2008 (PDT)
no, it just says,"Cannot find "tf_logic_arena"--Fire Tock 20:06, 13 Sep 2008 (PDT)
is there any other way to get that enity, it's the last thing i need for my map, would decompiling work?--Fire Tock 10:51, 14 Sep 2008 (PDT)
Where can it not find it?--Gear 11:56, 14 Sep 2008 (PDT)
ok, how about this, walk me through it step by step on how to get it, but toa nswer your question i cant find it in my map that i made. according to the directions i needed to go there. And for some reason there's no other arena maps downloaded in my bin, although ive played them.--Fire Tock 12:01, 14 Sep 2008 (PDT)

Spawnrooms and resupply

The main article could use some more info on these subjects, as arena mode is a bit different from all other game modes in these regards. There aren't true spawn rooms, they're more just spawn areas with neither resupply cabinets nor protection from the other team. Valve's limited use of resupply items in the official maps is also worth mentioning. I can add the info myself, but it might be a while, free time is scarce for me right now.--brandished 12:09, 22 Sep 2008 (PDT)
