Can't this be abstract mapping? because people know about the straightforward idea of striders, but not their exact map functionality—ts2do (talk) 17:49, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)

And yet it hardly seems fair to make a page for striders but not for barnacles. --Demented 18:08, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)
Go ahead, make one. There's a bit more to say about striders, but there's no minimum length requirement on articles. —Maven (talk) 18:34, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I think striders feel more mysterious because barnacles can't use scripted ai and stuff—ts2do (talk) 18:35, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Strider AI is closer to Gunships than ground-based NPC classes. They probably shouldn't be grouped with Barnacles. [1] [2] --wisemx 02:02, 29 Oct 2005 (PDT)
Convention has pages named like this redirect to the npc class. Perhaps the page should be renamed to "Using Striders", and something similar be done with other flying npcs. As for barnacles... we shall see. --Demented 16:09, 29 Oct 2005 (PDT)
I'm working on some wild stuff for, um, the HL2 Wildlife.--wisemx 16:19, 29 Oct 2005 (PDT)

This page would link to npc_strider, so no information is lost. Regarding the convention: Someone who wants to add a strider to a map would, by the convention, be redirected to npc_strider, stare blankly at pages of keyvalues, and then find the "See also" link to "Using Striders", which is the information they probably wanted anyway. It's much more pleasant to type "striders" in the search box and be sent directly to the useful stuff. So perhaps the convention should be changed. —Maven (talk) 18:04, 29 Oct 2005 (PDT)

True. Any search that brings up something in addition to entity data is nice. --wisemx 02:42, 30 Oct 2005 (PST)
