Talk:Dr. Gordon Freeman
Just because no one has taken the time to add a list of links to mods where you play Gordon Freeman, doesn't mean no such mods exist. That was just there to encourage someone to fill it in down the line.

I've been doing some thinking about Freemans role, and has come to this conclusion: Gordon Freeman is kind of an anti-christ. (That's why I've heard him being called an anti-hero.) Realisticly, unless there are more G-men and "Gordons" out there, Gordon has doomed the human race to extinction by inciting the rebellion in HL2. The Combine took control in 7 hours, and can probably annihilate it in that same amount of time, so, from humanitys point of view, Breen was pretty sane to bargain for its life, even if it lead to a lesser genocide and slavery and stuff. It was humanitys only hope for survival to join the Combine, and at this point I don't see how Gordon Freeman would change this even if he leads the entire human race into global war against the Combine. The Combine could just withdraw and nuke Earth from orbit and that would be that. ...so it's not about humanity, because I imagine by the time Half-Life is over, humanity will be extinct (unless it rejoins the Combine). It's about those "cute bi-ped frog-like Xen things", the Vorts: Humanity will die trying, but at least it will weaken the Combine enough to be overpowered and defeated by some other race. ...so it's not about saving humanity, but saving the universe. --Andreasen 04:43, 3 Apr 2006 (PDT)

- Well, since it's widely accepted that G-Man isn't human and is actually some kind of a multi-dimensional (or -universal) secret agent or mercenary, I'd say it's very likely that him recruiting Gordon to fight against the Combine is about saving the universe rather than Earth or the human race. Gordon probably accepted this assignment only because G-Man forced him to (that, or Gordon's seriously overestimating the odds of him (Gordon) winning this thing). As to whether Freeman's an anti-christ, I don't know. The term itself is quite vague to me. Note to self: read this later. Jupix 05:18, 3 Apr 2006 (PDT)

Humanity was weakened by the portal storms. Overrun by alien lifeforms, the governments and militaries of Earth had probably collapsed. Likely, most of humanity had been corralled into bunkers or safe zones where they could be more easily protected from the hordes of headcrabs, bullsquids, and leeches. Had there been any governments remaining, Breen would've been the last person to assume power. Gordon Freeman is a man who happens to be "the right man in the wrong place". Now, firstly, let's go over these accusations. Anti-Christ, unlikely, but he does tend to show up at the wrong time, though it's not his fault, I think he's pushed into these il-events by Breen/The G-Man/ The G-Man's employers. Now, I actually came to this article to ask, has anyone made an NPC of Gordon? Because I want to use it in Garry's Mod, but I haven't found one yet Chris(クリス) 19:02, 29 Sep 2008 (PDT)
- There has never been an NPC of gordon in any source game I know of, but Blue Shift/ Opposing Force used monster_generic, and there are Gordon Models out there, because I've seen Players and ragdoll versions of him in Comics and Machinima. --JeffMOD 12:33, 13 Dec 2008 (PST)
