So, this is my second tutorial, do you like it? Well, somebody have to fix grammar ;) BTW: In Portal, there's blue line under platform, do you know how to make it? ~ Rullaf 10:05, 04 Feb 2008

Yup thats a Laser, an env_laser, and wow, fantastic job on the tut, keep it up!--Gear 08:56, 4 Feb 2008 (PST)
Thanks a lot, I'll add that laser soon. ~ Rullaf 06:34, 4 Feb 2008 (PST)

Lots of effects

Hey, I'm new here, but a long time visitor. Just a heads up, I'm working on a map that involves a platform, and WOW. It has a lot of special effects. To start: yes, there is a laser that runs the length, I think the sprite is "sprites/trackbeam." Also, there is what seem to be a func_illusionary running the length of the beam as well, possibly 8 units thick, and, I think, painted with "effects/light_rail_beam1." There is something new, called an env_lightrail_endpoint to be included, and lastly, something I can't figure out. There is a glowy sprite thing right under the platform itself, that travels along the beam. Can't figure out what sprite it is though. Cheers. Yep, you're right, but I don't know neither. I'll add some of these effects to tut soon. ~ Rullaf 08:10, 12 Feb 2008

Wrong Example Link

The link to the example map links to the wrong map - it links to the rotating portalgun map. :) Unsigned comment added by Doomboy1000 (talkcontribs) Always sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)

Thx, I forgot to change it when I used that tut as template. I'll reupload it and change link in an article. ~ Rullaf 06:55, 22 Feb 2008

Rebuild?

Is it okay with everyone if I rebuild this article to include more detail and info? --Sbrown 19:12, 30 Nov 2008 (PST)

I rebuilt it with a newer clearer version. Rullaf, let me what do you want to do? Maybe we could integrate them. --Sbrown 00:05, 1 Dec 2008 (PST)

Could be easier

Maybe this tutorial should be clarified so that it's easier to follow. --Nathaniel 00:26, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

I just expanded the detail considerably, let me know if it's more helpful now. It still needs screenshots. Thelonesoldier 01:10, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Better Optimization

Wouldn't the use of func_illusionary be a better choice? It's got the FX Color and it's always non-solid. Yes, I am aware that Portal used a func_brush. But func_illusionary uses less memory whether if it's obsolete or not. --Mandrew (talk) 20:15, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Mere bytes less. Loudslappingsounds (talk) 01:44, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
