Any Ideas?

Am i supposed to delete this brush or just change the texture of it? When i do delete it, it does the same thing but with a different brush number, and with a new error.

I know this is already listed, but there are not any brushes outside the hammer grid lines.

this is the vbsp part of the log:

I believe this may be affecting my map performance, as I have an invisible line down the middle of my level that you cannot see the other side through. Also, every time I compile and run the map in portal it doesn't apply the changes. see http://myaperturelabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=332 for details.

I try deleting the indicated brush, but the same error occurs with a different brush. Seems to only occur with brushes that are covered in either tools/toolsinvisible or tools/toolstrigger and are tied to entities. --4LT 15:03, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh, wait, hell, now hammer shuts down when I attempt to open the file. So this is a problem with hammer, and not VBSP. --4LT 15:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Seems that your VMF file has become corrupt. Either you've used a " character within a value or there's an object in it somewhere that has an opening { but no closing }. --TomEdwards 15:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it was a "\"" character in an I/O connection. I did AddOutput origin "x y z" instead of AddOutput origin x y z. Thank god hammer has autosaves! --4LT 20:22, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Failure to load prt?

When i use the Hammer included with Portal 2 Authoring Tools, it says after i try to compile "LoadPortals: couldn't read c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\portal2\sdk_content\maps\instances\gameplay\chamber1.prt". What does this mean, and how do i fix it? All my maps worked fine until I started using more than one instance...or at least that is what it looks like.

I cannot post the entire compile because the portal 2 authorizing tools does not include a copy to clipboard function in the compiler.

Never mind. The solution was that the .prt can not be created if there is a leak.

I thought it was an overload of instances because it was all my elevators and droppers that were leaking.

Too many unique texture mappings

Someone more knowledgeable than me, please explain how to combat the "too many unique texture mappings (max 2048)" error.

I've encountered it numerous times while working on big and clumbersome maps, so any advice on this topic would be appreciated.

So far I only know that decals, overlays and cubemaps count towards the texture mapping limit Unsigned comment added by a straight white male (talkcontribs) Always sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)}
