I just want to suggest this start off on the page. BTW, can't wait for BMS! --AndrewNeo 19:26, 6 Jul 2005 (PDT)

Nice recreations....although it may be terribly difficult to recreate Xen with displacements...—ts2do (Talk | @) 13:47, 20 Nov 2005 (PST)

We will try hard to bring it to life. Thanks for the changes ts2do, looks better. I just need to add more media shots so the gallery doesn't look so ackward.--Kalashnikov

Page updated with media shots and additional information, more is coming: so please for now only correct spelling errors. --Kalashnikov

Updates complete, any mistakes/additions you think may be useful are welcomed. --Kalashnikov

Source has been removed from our official name due to a request from Valve Software. Do not re-add it. --Kalashnikov

Why though...it's too ambiguous now—ts2do 10:12, 29 Jan 2006 (PST)

We'll re-add (Source) for those who wish to read it as such. It'll be easier. --Kalashnikov

Take as long as you want. I just wanted to say that I want you guys to take as long as need be so you can make a good game. Don't feel pressured by all of us demanding progress and a release date. I swear, marketing departments kill video games. We all have many other games to play while we wait also so don't think we are starving a new valve game asap. I myself have Oblivion (drools), then Spore (mmmmmmmm), and then Project Offset (OMG ITS AMAZING). So take as long as you want, although I still want to play it eventually because half life is easily the best game ever made. --Red Comet 09:25, 19 Mar 2006 (PST)

Thanks Red Comet for the support. We will be taking the time needed while still concerning ourselves with time. --Kalashnikov

Just wanted to say I have seen full-scale, budgeted, high-expectation games that haven't impressed me NEARLY as much. This is almost another reason entirely to get Half-Life 2.--Katana 14:00, 1 Oct 2006 (PDT)

I just know this is gonna be the best mod when it's released! --Quanta 20:39, 5 Jul 2007 (PDT)

Yeah. This is probably going to be the best mod I'll come across for awhile. Just waiting for it makes me want to play Half-Life all over again... and when it's released, I probably won't play HL1 for awhile... I'll be too busy playing BM(S)--Darthkillyou 13:43, 26 Jul 2007 (PDT)

VALVe Dev Wiki / Wikipedia entries

I would like to point attention to the much more robust article on this mod at wikipedia [[1]]. I propose a deletion / replacement or merge of the local content with the other wiki's entry. Last year there was a deletion debate (the second for this mod), which sat at a No Consensus. I think this would solve the issues for all of us. (Please read the wikipedia discussion on this as well[[2]]) Yue.san 02:23, 31 Jan 2007 (PST)

Removed "Dead mod or not?"

A user just added a section that speaks of the mod being dead. Not only is this not true, but he did not discuss this here first. The last website update being in December is nothing, they've gone without updates for almost a year, and the developers are very active on the forums. I've removed the content for accuracy. Solokiller 18:51, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Lol of course it isn't dead! They had a trailer release not long ago and said release would be this year. --Craziestdan 19:14, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Flamon just undid the removal of his false information. I can only conclude, based on user contributions and the type of contributions, that he is a spammer or troll. Therefore, i'm tagging him as a spammer. Solokiller 20:01, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Dead?

The game was originally in Alpha last year, now it's back in closed Beta due to the removal of the Co-op. This is like Duke Nukem. The thing is never going to be released. I say it stays on the "Dead Mods" until we get a large update. Like an actual release date.--FlareKitsune 22:24, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

You got it backwards, games go from alpha to closed beta, (not always) to open beta, to finished product. The developers are also very active, and post new content on the wiki. They don't need to post a giant update on the news page to not be dead. Solokiller 22:39, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh alright. But listen, if we reach the end of the year, no release or nothing in the way of media, I say we can finally say this is a dead mod. It would be 7 years. 7 years of only a handful of screenshots and 1 (or 2?) trailers. But if there's nothing by the end of the year, we can legally call it dead.--FlareKitsune 17:40, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

should we care?
btw there are enough screenshots. --Pfannkuchen 18:44, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Anybody who thinks the mod is dead because they didn't make a release deadline is just forgetting what the mod really is, it's not dead because you don't bother to click a few links on their homepage, it's not dead because you don't like the mod, it's not dead because a thread you made was locked since it was the 1001'th thread on the same topic, it's only dead when the team members all decide that it is, and the team is motivated enough for that to never happen. Solokiller 14:04, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Because nearly 7 years of development is motivation. They're more interested in trolling and banning people on their forums rather than working on the mod.--FlareKitsune 01:00, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

And you get this information from where? Trolls and spammers are banned, not people who act normal. Besides, it's not like professional game studios release tons of media, the team has released more than enough media, just because it's not enough for your tastes doesn't means the mod is dead. Solokiller 02:13, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

The mod is dead, they promised and swore up and down they'd have it ready at the end of 2009, they were blabbing about a release in late 2009, and when that failed promised they were extremely close. It's now summer of 2010.

What work at the end of 2009, could they expect to have done in days, that couldn't be done in many months? Unless the 'release' they planned was complete bull, then it's dead graykicksass 7:20, 24 June 2010 (PST)

They set the release date at 2009 to motivate themselves, but when the end of the year neared they knew it wouldn't get done, so they canceled the release. They are not screwing around with anybody here, so stop complaining about it being dead. Solokiller 08:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
If a game or mod misses it's release date, that means it's dead? Oh, then I guess we'll never see Half-life, or HL2. Get real. Every commercial game misses a release date somewhere along the line. BM happens to be commercially scaled- it's remaking HL, with today's technology, more areas, and a team that happens to have full time jobs and school in addition to the mod's creation. It's not dead, and in fact, new media and info gets released all the time on the forums, you just have to dig for it. --JeffMOD 13:06, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

I don't know what issue you people have with this mod (banned from the forums for acting like an idiot from the sounds of it) but unless they say they're done, completely disappear for years or close the site, I don't think you have any right to decide their mod isn't coming out. --Omnicoder 17:10, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

they said it was gonna be released "when it will be" and the things been worked on for 5 years at least, has to be released soon, so just wait... --Castlesource 22:42, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Fanboys. Fanboys everywhere. This is why we can't have nice things.--FlareKitsune 20:12, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I know, right? It's so annoyin-Oops, I forgot I'm a mute! {Gordon Freeman Impersonation} --BreakingAtTheHinges 21:36, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I find it amusing the mod still isn't released, but we still can't call it dead without a source from the developers. Thelonesoldier 11:39, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
The developers are still active, on a DAILY basis, on their forums, and they upload new media to their wiki every now and then. If you call that dead, then you shouldn't be discussing the status of this mod. Solokiller 12:09, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

I've heard "This mod is SOO dead.", "No, this mod is alive, really!", and "This mod is dead. *joking*", "There hasn't been updates for over a year on ModDB/their old forums/YouTube!". The link that once and for all removed all my doubts, is this Black Mesa programmers devblog, currently dated January 2011: [3] --MossyBucket (formerly Andreasen) 23:37, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Moving Black Mesa (Source) to Black Mesa

Since the game is now most commonly referred to as Black Mesa instead of Black Mesa (Source), should this page be moved to Black Mesa? deprecated(talk) 19:16, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
