Hi. This edit was a joke. Honestly I HOPE none of you proofread it even. The fact not one but two people (the edit was live five times total) reverted back to an edit joking about carve being regarded as a big shiny red button labeled "nuke earth" really underlines that you guys have no clue what you're talking about. As ficool says, you're just repeating whatever master TwatHATTwaffle says and hilariously, his is the exact discord server I traced your off-wiki conversations about this drama to.
Darnias: That picture is out of date anyway. Carve doesn't even do the cuts in the same directions anymore. I tested this myself (which noooobody does around here anymore), and there wasn't even decimal loss like everybody says. It was probably just an issue back in 2005 with Hammer's 3d renderer. Erik also did not upload that picture in order to demonstrate carve is bad. Please, all of you, quit being so goddamn stupid. Loudslappingsounds (talk) 18:41, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

'-1.90735e-05 is actually an okay number. VBSP rounds numbers to a margin of ~0.03, therefore this actually doesn't cause any issues unless its severely imprecise, which I doubt.Ficool2 (talk) 19:13, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
Alright, so Darnias, I will give you merit there. Strangely, I have completely different results: for me, the numbers are perfectly whole integers but also when I carve I don't have all the individual blocks become different colors so there must be some sort of discrepancy between Hammer builds. Never said anything about 'mentally retarded', literally quoted your last message before that. Hammer fucks up decimals after you save, maybe try that. Either way I proved my point, you guys can keep fucking with VDC how you want, this is literally a waste of time for me. I'm starting to believe he has forged the results he has gotten to prove his arguments, I did some testing myself and I have not reached any decimals at all, even when carving with a complex shape.Ficool2 (talk) 19:38, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Ok so CSGO hammer was fine, Alien Swarm hammer was fine, HL2 hammer DID cut horizontally, but still no decimal problems. Loudslappingsounds (talk) 19:56, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Carve - Josh

Stop writing that carve is good. The carve tool has accuracy issues and creates disgusting tris. I'm not saying it doesn't have its uses, but it generally should be avoided unless at all necessary -- and even then what you make should likely be func_detailed and replaced with simpler geometry for vis pass.

Accuracy issues don't occur with Carve unless you are using some more than a block, and even in that case you can just do Ctrl + B in vertex manipulation mode to fix the inaccuracies Ficool2 (talk) 23:13, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
