Talk:Media Player
- Lets keep it here--RP 18:47, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
Couple of things I've noticed that look interesting... In Steam\Bin, smp.exe, or Steam Media Player. Looks like movies are coming to Steam soon. Also, Steam\Public\P2PDownload.res. Hello Bittorrent-style Steam functionality. --AiusEpsi 15:21, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
- If you load it up in a debugger it does infact say Steam Media Player, it maybe related to this topic ::http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83292 also it is using imports from MediaPlayer, load up the :::p2pdownload and it talks about, ShareRatio, don't know if this should be here. If not delete. --Sarkie
- I managed to get a movie to play, it does a nice fade to black then plays the movie. ^Ben 16:37, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
It's fullscreen but you can use the standard wmp controls to work it ^Ben 16:42, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
- How'd you get it to do that? Mine just refuses to do anything when I double-click on it... --AiusEpsi
you gotta open it like a command-line program...drag and drop to it—ts2do 16:54, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
- I tried that, still nothing. Hmm. --AiusEpsi
I take it that smp has something to do with Zombie Movie? -- Sodabus 17:31, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
- Yeah just use shift right click on normal files and load the files, basically it will play any Windows Media Player can, running through Dependancy Walker can't see a lot of relations to WMP .dlls, is this just a container? It will need the codecs install I'm sure, but will it need Windows Media Player 9 -10 if it does, why do we need if only for the cool blur effect. --Sarkie 02:31, 10 Mar 2006 (GMT)
I find this player to be the fastest to play HD WMV content. But it doesn't use hardware video overlay for output. Why is that? --Slider2k 19:00, 3 Jul 2007 (PDT)
Trailers in STEAM soon?
- Apparently we're going to be able to watch trailers (and maybe more) on STEAM very soon, look at this thread (credits for AiusEpsi) --RP 16:26, 5 May 2006 (PDT)
Controlls?
Shouldn't this article have a list of hot-keys? I just can't figure out how to jump through the timeline in full screen mode. --Snake oil salesman 03:00, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
